Toby Kebbell responded to the question with "Doom has had more virtually definitive endings than any other characters, I think, in Superhero history, and he finds a way out of virtually everything. So who knows? Who knows with Doom, no one knows."

Unless this somehow becomes a box office goldmine (and who knows?), this franchise is dead in the water.

If Fox does try to go ahead with the sequel, everybody will hate it during its entire production, Fox PR will spin the sequel as a reinvention of the fledgling franchise, that they've learned their lesson, that whoever they get to write and direct has righted the ship, and blah, blah, blah.

It will be a shit show the entire time, and unless it's Winter Soldier or Dark Knight quality, people will hate the final result.

So, Fox, assuming this tanks like we expect it to, why even try to salvage this?

"pretty definitive ending" for this reboot. I still need to see it but as for now it seems that Fox/Trank or Trank or Fox [frick]ed it up big time.

Actors must be coached to find anything good to say about a film, even when it sucks, during the marketing and endorsing the film period.

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon The only way people will accept a better team for the sequel is if Singer produces and co-writes with Matthew Vaughn directing and co-writing

Showing the Director's Cut of the movie could be the only way of redemption. Still ... damage is done.

@Kr08 Optimistic on a sequel that's a 2nd attempt (technically 3rd) to bring this franchise to life with Vaughn at the helm? Highly ambitious and improbable.

Do you really not want to see Fantastic Four back with Marvel? I mean, the inherent cheesiness and cosmic/science background with Marvel's first family just gels more than the more dour version of Fox's X-Men (which works well).

@Reasonnnn Show me the math behind that improbability. I would rather get a good sequel in 2017 than wait 10-15 years for a Marvel reboot

Sequel???????

Reasonnnn
Reasonnnn - 8/7/2015, 10:23 AM
@Kr08 They don't even need to use the F4 right now, which I could care less about at this point. I'm mainly just talking about the villains. Annihilus would bring the Guardians and F4 into the fold, and Dr. Doom, Super Skrull and Kang being Avengers threats.

A lot more synergy compared to F4 and X-Men crossing over, which would need Marvel's OK (that I can't imagine happening).
JamesMann
JamesMann - 8/7/2015, 10:23 AM
With Matthew Vaughn busy on the Kingsmen sequel and the Hitgirl prequel I don't see him doing X-Men or an FF sequel in the foreseeable future.

@MexicanSuperman

This movie will not get a Director Cut anything, because Josh Trank is not Bryan Singer, here we are not talking about some more scenes that dont change a lot the main plot.

Here we are talking about more of 40 minutes of reshoots, is like all the middle of the movie, all the Toby Kebbell scenes were his "motivations" and "name" is say, every one of that scenes are change.

The only thing they dont change, is the horror and panic that the characters feels when they get the powers.

In the case that Josh Trank original material was even better that the shit we get.
