Jessica Alba has revealed in a recent interview with US Elle that she hit such a career low a few years ago that she "really hated" her job and "wanted to stop acting". And what movie could it have been that made her feel this way? You guessed it. It was Fox's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer!
"I remember when I was dying in 'Silver Surfer'. The director was like, 'It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica. ...'"
"And then it all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough?... And so I just said, 'F**k it. I don't care about this business anymore.'"
The star also complained about being made to stick to the script, insisting that:
"Good actors never use the script unless it's amazing writing. All the good actors I've worked with, they all say whatever they want to say."
Apparently, it was only after the birth of her daughter that she decided to give the business another chance. Whether you liked her portrayal of Sue Storm or not, making comic book movies that are so bad they make actors want to quit is surely not a good thing! Still, that's Fox for you! :)
