Conan has been cast!

It's not who you think, or at least what many wanted. Some have held out hope, but here it is....

Well, the wait is over Conan fans. Deadline Hollywood has just reported that the barbaric hero will be played by none other than:

Jason Momoa!

It was said that Marcus Nispel, the remake's director, was sold on Momoa, who won over the filmmakers after shooting a few trial scenes. His ability to wield a sword and behave very Schwarzenegger-like dismissed their concerns.

The brawny Momoa, of Stargate: Atlantis fame, beat out other top contender Kellan Lutz for the role.

The film is slated to begin filming on May 15th in Bulgaria.

I don't know about you guys, but I am hoping Conan does NOT have dreads.

What a [frick]ING CRAP choice!!!

DDD
DDD - 1/21/2010, 7:41 PM
They could do worse than Momoa, I guess!
I thought The Rock would be good
for this at one time so a Hawaiian
Conan isn't too bad! He looks like
a kinda ancient civilization type guy!

But Cimmirians were the first keltic
or Irish peoples and he doesn't look
very Irish! I'm Irish so I oughtta know!
Guess he could be a 'BLACK' Irish!
There is such a thing!

He'll probably bulk up even more for
Conan! I hope so at least! He's kinda
skinny!

I like the way I said it better. But I knew there was a chance of a slop job. :)

I just figured Josh, or Hawks would nab it first so I rushed it.

DDD: This dudes arms are nowhere near as big as mine and I am nowhere near Conan size. Conan is one character who needs to be BIG.

This and the Ultimate Spider-boy, both ones to pass on!!

That guys a crap actor too!
DDD
DDD - 1/21/2010, 7:47 PM
That's CROM tea@! He was a Keltic god of
storms and death! Kinda similar to THOR
in the Nordic mythology.

Who the HELL is making this film, the SciFi Channel? I bet it's gonna' be another crap-fest like 'Highlander - The Source'. Where's Arnold when you need him...?

"To crush you enemies! ...see them driven before you! ...and to hear the lamentation of their women!"

more like...

"To crush the hopes of the faithful! ...see their dreams scatter before you! ...and to hear the lamentation of the fanboys!"

In fairness, I did look for his scrawniest looking picture. There are some other cuts of him that looks pretty well ripped.

Yer right Hawks@ but Hollywood producers don't think
like normal people I don't think! I do believe they
have their heads firmly planted up their own butts!

DDD - 1/21/2010, 7:54 PM
He doesn't look anything like the Conan from pulps,
the books or the comic books. But he is tall, at 6'4"
and he can always bulk up! But he would not be my
choice for Conan, not in a million years!
I think everybody knows who my pick was. I wish they
would have used him! I know if I was making a Conan
movie I would've used my choice!

MarkCassidy - 1/21/2010, 7:56 PM
Meh. I don't like him on Stargate, but then, Stargate is dreadful in every way. The only positive thing I can say is, he was the best of a bad bunch!

Anil@ Jared Padalecki would have been a good choice
and he's a better actor than Momoa! Jared is 6'4" and
has bulked up his body a lot lately!

I don't think Padelanky is a better actor than Momoa at all..in fact I think he's fairly rubbish. I'v watched a few eps of Supernatural and he sucked..and don't get me started on his "performance" In Friday The 13th.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 1/21/2010, 8:08 PM
DDD @ We know, perfect!!

Though the JARED pick one i couldnt think of anyone worst, total sh1t actor!!! : D

They could do worse. I didn't mind him on Stargate, the show wasn't great but his character was interesting. Once he bulks up I think he'll definitely look the part.

Lucky for me, Im not a huge Conan fan.

I tried to find a "lean and mean" yet still legimate version of Conan, but couldn't.

This could be a bit too much of a stretch...hrmmm...
