Viewers of an early screening of Sony's Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor-duo-directed
Ghost Rider sequel expressed negative reactions, with two attendants saying it was "worse than the first Ghost Rider film," in which another stated "made to look like The Dark Knight in comparison with the new film."
Although 'Rider' fans are still anticipating how "darker" the sequel is said to be that the original Nicolas Cage-starrer, according to a Spanish site by the name of
Aullidos, Sony Pictures has "confirmed" pushing back the February 17 release date for
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, by one week; to February 24.
Considering the the validity of the Spanish site is questionable, take this supposed "confirmation" with much skepticism. Of course, it's possible this news only regards the sequel's release date in foreign areas.
Nicolas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures' and Hyde Park Entertainment's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. In the successor to the worldwide hit Ghost Rider, Johnny still struggling with his curse as the devil's bounty hunter is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciarn Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.
From directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" promises to show you ol' flamehead like you've never seen him before, the sequel also stars Violante Placido, Johnny Whitworth, Christopher Lambert and Idris Elba; releasing in theaters February 15, 2012!
