Despite it's critical failure and disappointing box office numbers so far, theres no guarantee a sequel to Martin Campbell's Green Lantern film will ever see the light of day. With that, 'Amanda Waller' actress Angela Bassett hopes to expand her role in future DC-installments, a la Samuel L. Jackson's 'Nick Fury' in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, like in the comics.

“I didn't want to just come out and ask [the studio] that, but maybe I should have – I certainly hope so,” Bassett tells PopcornBiz. “It wasn't set up that way,” she admits. “Hopefully somebody as brilliant as you that's got their thinking cap on.”

When the interviewer asked about her character's heavy weight in the comics, the actress explained:
“You're the first one who has said that,” she laughs. “But it's true and we thought about it, but they didn't really want to go that way. And I'm glad!” She said playing the Full Wall would’ve been the reverse of finding her pumped up physique as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It, but “it would have been easier.”

The interviewer then asked about the experience and essentially why she'd love to return for the role.
“It's just so different from anything that I've done before,” she says of the character she hopes to revisit, “so it's great to just be a part of this really unique and larger-than-life world.”

While Warner Bros. have no intention of creating a shared universe with solo DC cinematic Adaptations, at least for now, how cool would it be to see Amanda Waller in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel? Anyhow, If she truly admires the shared universe, I suggest Angela hop over to Marvel's successful cinematic universe, but who could she portray?

dc have got to make other films for that to happen & if the green lantern turns out being a flop, everything else will be put on hold.

@Xenix Green Lantern had a production budget of 200 million. No way Warner Bros. recoups this. I doubt we get anything outside of Batman and Superman for a while. Hell, even Superman might me in trouble.

@Xenix yeah but at the same time the economy is in the crapper look at X-men First Class it only made $2 mill more on its opening weekend and its a sequel/prequel to a popular franchise. People really have to pick and choose what they want to go see in a summer of blockbusters. Where Thor for example came out in the spring with less blockbusters.

@ xenix

just checked on box office mojo worldwide takings for green lantern are.

$75,274,000 that is bad.

@marvel72 when you look at what it cost to make it is bad, but when you look at what the pubic has to spend it is not.

also...doesn't she like...die....being hurled into glass with your head bleeding and no sign of her being cared for...they might have killed her off.

this is what you get Warner Bros, you messed up one of the best ideas and now you are paying for it with record low box office results

@ComicCritic87 oh no Hal saved her remember the water construct one of the coolest looking constructs in the movie. This is why I commented to your review you should have paid more attention to the movie and you should go watch it again.

@ dmon

i suppose you're right,my £8.20 is in there somewhere.

dmon just read your comment about the water construct wasn't it green.

if so why when he built the flame throwers the flames were real & not green.

She always has a commanding presense on screen so if DC decide to keep her, I'm for it.

@marvel72 because the flames were not a construct. His construct was a working flame thrower that produced real flames. I guess if he made a construct rain cloud that would have made real water get my drift.

@Intruder LOL I dont know dude. Why don't more people in movies just shoot the bad guy in the head right away like Indiana Jones in Raiders and Kevin Costner in Open Range?
StuckInPanels
StuckInPanels - 6/21/2011, 10:28 AM
@Dmon...being saved by construct water doesn't mean her wound was tended to. And thats not a strong enough explanation, does the construct chain gun fire REAL bullets? does the construct chainsaw run on REAL gas. I know the ring can create simple reactions like fire or water but the movie never explained that any point. Thats my real issue, they can't just say it can do everything without backing it up. This is science based powers, not magic

@Intruder, Mark Strong explained it in an earlier interview. Hal's constructs are very earth-bound. And a flamethrower... throws flame. And fire is very effective. So, voila. A flamethrower.
Dmon
Dmon - 6/21/2011, 10:31 AM
@ComicCritic87 I agree about the bullets and casings but not the chain saw and flame thrower. But if you look read Emerald Dawn I & II you and any comics beyond lets say 10 years ago you will see that the ring can make thing that do not always appear green.

They need to change her a bit if they want to make her the DC Nick Fury, cause they made her a scientist in GL. But hell make that jut a public perona or at least one of them. She's Dr. Waller when she needs to be, and Agent Waller most of the time.

its this or they will use someone the likes of Luscious Fox for that roll.

@Intruder haven't seen it yet, might go tomorrow, but doesn't hal start by constructing earth weapons because he doesn't entirely grasp the concept at the beginning? Like he makes a chain-gun and a flamethrower (from the trailers) instead of constructing bullets flying out of his ring, or just heating enemies up with the rings energy.

Although, it's stupid that he is able to create a working flamethrower and gun that shoot real fire and bullets. Shouldn't it be a green construct of fire (some kind of green superheated energy) and green condensed constructs of bullets? Considering both fire and the bullets contain the colour yellow, it's a bit of a flaw if Green Lanterns are weak to the colour yellow?

AND (I'm not to familiar with the comics, but) isn't Amanda Waller a bit... ambiguous in the comics? Like not a hero or a villain, kind of neutral? If so, they could have her try to recruit heroes for the government, only for them to unite under their own banner (JLA) and work independent of the government?

@Kes he is not well known as those others and the general public is saving their money for those movies. They are not going to spend their money when they dont have much on a bad reviewed movie they know nothing about. Also how do you explain Xmen making only $2 mill more it's opening weekend?

Well, for that to happen, DC would have to give us the cinematic universe we want.

Xenix Sam Jackson's first appearance in Iron Man was literally show up after the actual movie, talked a little, and basically contributed jack shit to the plot. All he was a vehicle to set up the Avengers film.

She should have been Storm instead of Halle Berry. In fact, if Fox goes forward with X4, then recast the role.

@RamonSuarez lol Blades total domestic gross was $70,087,718. Its opening weekend it made $17,073,856 even with inflation it does not come any where near $53 Mil. And with Iron-man I believe Marvel did a real good job with advertising but both films, Blade and Ironman came out in a time when the economy was better.
plasticman
plasticman - 6/21/2011, 10:51 AM
Does anyone remember when she was up for the role of Storm? While I think she could have pulled it off, I found her performance as Amanda Waller slightly over-acted but good. With a little fine tuning this could work.
