In some more excerpts from Martin Campbell's interview with Total Film, the director goes into even more detail about upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment movie, Green Lantern. There's much more to see in the actual magazine (including interviews with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively) so be sure to pick that up when it goes on sale this week!
On The Fact That Green Lantern Is A Lesser Known Character:
"Green Lantern may be a tiny bit better known than Iron Man was, but Iron Man was a bloody good film, which made the difference. But certainly from Batman or Superman we're a level down in terms of being recognized."
On The Sometimes Negative Reactions From The Fans:
"The fanbase is bound to be offended by something. You can never satisfy them all. I went to Comic Con in San Diego and it was a mad house, these people are dyed-in-the-wool fans and the outfit is always the bone of contention with any of these characters."
On The Budget For The Movie And That affected Filming:
"It's interesting that there were budget restrictions. So you don't have the massive sequences that you always start off envisioning before the cost comes in and everyone basically shits a pumpkin -- and then you downsize the thing. I would have liked to have done that but that we just couldn't afford."
On What He Thinks About Movies Which Covert To 3D After Filming:
"There was little talk of 3D when we started. It does nothing for me. I enjoyed Avatar and I thought it was so beautifully done but Cameron is a genius with that stuff. But just go and see Clash of the Titans and that will give you a headache from the start. And [with] all these post-3D films you get a sense that they are just cashing in on the ticket price."
With an all star cast which includes Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris and Mark Strong as Sinestro, director Martin Campbell's
Green Lantern is set to be released in 3D on June 17, later this year!
