In the build up to the release of Green Lantern, perhaps the biggest talking point was the fully CGI suit that would be "worn" by Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. The first trailer resulted in a huge amount of backlash aimed at Warner Bros. and while this eventually started to die down by the time of release, the movie was still heavily criticized for both the awkward looking suit and generally poor visual effects throughout. It may then not come as too much of a surprise that Green Lantern is the only major 2011 comic book movie to not be considered by the Academy for an Oscar nod. Following the screenings, the members will vote to nominate five films for final Oscar consideration.
With all three of Marvel's 2011 contributions on the list, as well as plenty of other blockbusters, it's hard to find a movie which doesn't deserve to be considered by the Academy. However, do YOU think they made a mistake by not including
Green Lantern? More importantly, which of the films listed above deserves to walk away with the award? Sound off with your thoughts below.
