Now everybody knows I’m a big Hellboy fan. Hellboy is without a doubt my second favorite superhero behind Batman. When I first saw the first Hellboy film, I was blown away. There wasn’t a thing I didn’t like. The reason I like Hellboy over others is that Hellboy is like if you have Wolverine, Hulk, and Spider-Man into one. He can be funny and joke at times, he can be savage and just go off at times, and he is misunderstood and not accepted at times just because he is different. Hellboy also has a dark past like Batman, Wolverine and others. Everybody knows I want to see Hellboy 3. I haven’t been able to come up with an article for the film without expressing pure bias opinion and be over passionate. Lately we’ve had many articles about the cancellation
Green Lantern: The Animated Series and
Young Justice and why they should be saved. I’m not going to smash you guys that wrote those articles but the problem with your articles is that you guys put your fanboy passion into it and you don’t put any logical or facts into it and if you do, you don’t explore those facts and logical. That is one of the reasons I haven’t written a Hellboy article but now I have finally got ideas on why Hellboy 3 should happen. Here is why I think there should be a Hellboy 3 film.

There you have it, every superhero series with the total averages from Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. Take it away Kanye:
Now some people may say that Marvel movies have made more money than Hellboy’s films but at the same time
Alice In Wonderland and
Transformers: Dark of the Moon made more than
Jurassic Park,
Gladiator,
Django Unchained and many other great movies. Does that mean there better? No. People may say that I can’t pair all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films into one but at the same time, in the top box office franchises it says “Marvel Cinematic Universe” not
Iron Man or others. If we talk just indiviaual films than Hellboy films has been more praised than superheroes like Captain America, Hulk, Thor, X-Men, Green Lantern, Blade, and Fantastic Four. Hellboy is one of the least popular superheroes on this list and yet he has a series that has been more critical praised so far than anything Marvel put out and most of what DC has put out and Hellboy is neither a Marvel nor DC. I’m not dissing Marvel but most people keep saying how they are the only ones to put out superhero films and praise them. Just goes to show how great the Hellboy film series is. Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. Hellboy is one of the best.
Ron Perlman Isn’t Getting Any Younger
Last year, we lost a great actor with Michael Clarke Duncan. Michael Clarke Duncan was an amazing actor and he was loved by most comic book fans due to his appearances and incredible performances as Kingpin in
Daredevil, Manute in
Sin City, and Kilowag in
Green Lantern. While those performances are loved, none are as legendarily as his performance in
The Green Mile. Michael Clarke Duncan passed way too soon. Comic fans have always wanted to see him as Killer Croc in a Batman movie, Apocalypse in a X-Men movie, and Darkseid in a Justice League movie. Clarke was perfect for all the roles due to not only his voice but his physical appearance.
Now I talked about Michael Clarke Duncan because Ron Perlman is getting old. Perlman is 62 years old right now. I don’t want Perlman to get too old to play Hellboy or to pass away too soon like Clarke. Perlman is Hellboy. Ron Perlman as Hellboy would be like if you gave Christian Bale Kevin Conroy’s voice. Perlman has portrayed Hellboy in everything Hellboy related. Live action films, animated films, video games, Make-A-Wish dreams, Perlman was Hellboy. The man is Hellboy and we should have him portray Hellboy one last time, to end the trilogy before it’s too late.
Bruce Campbell As Lobster Johnson
For those of you that don’t know, Lobster Johnson is a character in the Hellboy universe who is a vigilante that worked in secret in New York City during the 1930s. The Lobster was a real man who faced gangsters as well as paranormal threats. The Lobster had a reputation for violence, such as killing mobsters and burning his trademark lobster claw symbol into their foreheads with the palm of his gloved hand. Lobster did not appear in
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army due to Mike Mignola's wish to remain true to the character's origin. Del Toro has stated that Johnson may appear in Hellboy III and that he wants Bruce Campbell to play him. Campbell voiced The Lobster as the secret character in
Hellboy: Science of Evil video game which Del Toro worked on. Having The Lobster in Hellboy 3 would be amazing and having Campbell play him would only make it better.
Hellboy And Liz Sherman’s Twins
While some fans didn’t like this, I enjoyed it. I know that Liz and Hellboy have more of a brother-sister relationship in the comics but I liked how they were lovers in the movies. It adds depth to Hellboy and shows a more human element to him. While I was shocked, you can’t tell me you would want to know what their twins would look like.
The End of the World
One reason as to why
Hellboy 3 is expensive is because everything has been leading up to this, Hellboy his facing his destiny. Hellboy is supposed to be the destroyer of the world. He has been fighting this throughout the film series. We see a lot of elements of this in the first film and some smaller elements of this in the second film. Having Hellboy face his destiny and wondering what will happen would be one epic story and of course one would need money to create.
How Can You Say No To This Kid?
A couple months again,
JoshWilding reported a story about how a Make-A-Wish kid called Zachary wish came true. Zachary's wish was to meet Hellboy and also to become Hellboy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation contacted Spectral Motion with the kid’s request. Mike thought it would be fantastic to have Ron Perlman reprise his role for the day. Ron loved the idea and donned the makeup once more and also ordered a Hellboy sized meal of burgers, shakes, and fries for Zachary and his family and the entire Spectral crew to enjoy. Later in the day, Zachary was transformed into Hellboy with the assistance of makeup artists Lufeng Qu and Neil Winn. Now this story surely touched everybody’s hearts. After this happened, Del Toro came out to say that he wants to try to make Hellboy 3 a possibility again.
So there you have it. Why I think Hellboy 3 needs to happen. Hellboy may not be the most popular superhero or well known but he deserves his chance to finish his trilogy. Who knows; maybe if Hellboy 3 is great, it will be more acclaimed than Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. Wouldn’t that be a shocker? I hope Hellboy 3 happens and if it does I will be there opening day. If Del Toro can’t still get it, maybe if they add a certain extra character into the script of the film and if it is alright with WB’s we could see this happening:
A man can dream right? What are your thoughts? Do you think Hellboy 3 should happen or not? Comment below. I now leave you with Hellboy and Ape singing “Can’t Smile Without You.” Peace.
