Update on Hellboy 3

Hellboy 3 looks like it will happen, but not for quite awhile.

In an interview with MTV News Guillermo Del Toro has revealed that since he is so immersed in the world of the Hobbit (coming out in two movies, in which he is directing both) that the next Hellboy movie will be a few years away.

Del Toro said:
"We’re three, four years away from anything happening—so I don’t think anyone is, you know, in a big hurry.”

He has also offered up some encouragement for a spin off with the B.P.R.D. with someone else taking the helm. For those of you who don't know there is an entire comic series for the B.P.R.D, so there are plenty of Mike Mignola stories to choose from.

Also I dont know about anyone else but I am a big fan of Abe Sapien and think that maybe he could carry his own film, or at least an animated one.

Animated YES. Live action, probably not. I did enjoy Niles Kramer as the voice of Abe in the first movie, I htought they should have stuck with him.

But Guillermo knows what he's doing, so a few years is no skin off anyones back.

Yeah, I would love more animated Hellboy movies either with just Abe, the B.P.R.D or the big guy himself. And yes, David Hyde Peirce did an amazing job as Abe although it was cool that the actor from the second movie did both the actual body work as well as the voice.
Which I think is how it should be anyways, gives the character more depth I think instead of such a seperate entity from the voice.

And yes, Del Toro can do no wrong in my books so waiting for the master to return to the helm is just fine by me.

Guillermo is Gold! This guy could polish a turd, and make a major motion picture out of it, and I'd STILL go to the theaters to watch! lol
All kidding aside, I would LOVE to see a B.P.R.D. spin off! But please make sure to give us some more Big Red in the near future, I just love that guy! ;-)

David Hyde Pierce did the voice of Abe in the first movie. but if you're thinking of the character he played on 'Fraser' then you are thinking Niles Crane

I think that the first movie was great and the second one was awesome and the next will be incredible! Abe had his own comics, so we could see him with a spin-off if B.P.R.D. does good. Although I liked him a lot better with the voice over.

I say do it live-action...but to make things interesting include "The Goon" into the script, so its a Hellboy/Goon movie.

Guillermo Del Toro is directing the HOBBIT 1 & 2...with peter jackson producing both along side with him....now Toro is awesome in everyway...but I think one problem he was is showing that "magic in his directing"....hes a good director...but hes very unique thats probably why his movies are very enjoyable to watch.

I cant wait for Hell Boy 3....or the Hobbit 1 & 2.

Sooo... does this mean that when the Hellboy finally comes back, we get to see what the 'little ones' look like? I've always been curious to know what a cross between a hottie like Selma Blair and the Big Red Monkey would look like (call it morbid curiosity - she DID say she was expecting twins...)

I liked the hobbit most out of all of them so im excited about that! Hellboy 2 saved itself from part 1. Spin offs welcome.

I really didn't notice much of a difference in Abe's voice from Hellboy to Hellboy II. I mean David Hyde Pierce did say in the commentary that he tried to mimic the Voice of Doug Jones.

The Hobbit movie are almost garunteed to be golden
you have the man behind the epic lord of the rings working with the creative genius behind Pans Labrynth and the Hellboy movies
the troll market is such a great part of the second movie that i have absolute faith in the Hobbit
Hellboy 3 we will most likely see the introduction of the twins.

Mike Mignola has said repeatedly that each new hellboy venture (comics, live action and animated) is going to have variations in the story and background. they are each seperate entities focused around the big ape. I dont think we will see the end of Hellboy or his associated characters in any of those three genres any time soon. Hellboy 2 made to much money and hype. Plus the comics are still selling and so are the spin offs.

I like the comics better just because of the art and the way they make it throughout history. Hellboy is very different in the movie and comics, but they're both awesome. Hellboy is an example of a movie that can stray from the original and still be great.

Nice...3rd movie... will look forward to it! No animation please. I liked David Hyde Pierce for Abe best too in the 1st movie. Maybe he will come back for the 3rd. I am glad Del Toro didnt allow Hellboy to be shelved after the 1st movie.

no i think Del Toro's love of the character as well as Mike Mignolas work will have him making at least a 3rd movie

and BubaX i would have to agree that Del Toro would have made an excellent 3rd Blade movie however I dont think it was all that bad. Granted it was definately not the best by far but it was entertaining in its own fashion.

ElBeaster, i would have to agree that the way the comics jump everywhere in time is great and allows you to see so much more of Hellboys life. the art in the comics is what first drew me to it as well and i think del toro does a good job of keeping that dark and romantic feel to the movies that the books seem to carry so well. number 2 was especially brilliant I think with the royal family and the troll market. great visuals and storyline, something fantatasical with Hellboy smack in the middle of it.

I would love to see a live-action Roger... Or even better, Lobster mutha-effin Johnson!

I love the fact that because Mike Mignola and Del Toro have such chemistry as friends and professionals that Mike let's Del Toro take his creative freedom to the Hellboy universe. Golden Army was freaking gorgeous.
