A QUIET PLACE Spinoff Lands 2023 Release Date From Paramount; MUD's Jeff Nichols Will Write & Direct

Hot on the heels of the smashing success of A Quiet Place Part II, Paramount has formally dated Jeff Nichols' spinoff to the hit horror franchise, which is based on an original idea from John Krasinski.

According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has officially dated an untitled A Quiet Place movie for March 31, 2023.

The now-confirmed project, which is based on an original idea from John Krasinski, is not being developed as a direct follow-up to A Quiet Place Part II, but is instead expected to expand the post-apocalyptic universe and will,  presumably, take the franchise in an exciting new direction.

Jeff Nichols (Mud; Midnight Special) is set to write and direct. The film is currently in the very early stages of development, but with a release date now set, we should be hearing a lot more about the project before the end of the year.

A Quiet Place Part II is currently playing in theaters with Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe all reprising their roles from the previous installment. Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) have joined the cast in mysterious new roles, while director John Krasinski also appears during the prologue as the Abbott patriarch.

The critically acclaimed horror sequel has grossed over $93.1 million globally, which is actually outpacing the original film at this same stage in its release cycle, and has firmly established itself as one of the most successful blockbusters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

@Godzillakartt -

That's an interesting point. How do you think that early reveal affected your experience?

For me, it didn't matter whether we saw them immediately or not because the sense of dread or tension came from their brutal nerve shattering hunting methods.

Waiting on the reveal wouldn't really add anything unique imo beyond basic anticipation that would quickly be relieved once you saw the monsters BUT I do see how it could have worked that way for other people.

@Godzillakartt - yeah I don’t know dude,I think it was a great movie as is.I wouldn’t change anything about how they handled it.Thinking back I think it enhanced it seeing these horrifying monsters.Especially when they lost the little boy.Heartbreaking scene that showed the absolute devastation these things can do in seconds. It would’ve been weird not seeing them imo especially considering their was no dialogue due to the no talking. It would’ve been kinda frustrating wondering what the hell was going on without seeing the threat and nobody talking too much to explain it

Hollywood needs to stop fearing original ideas. Need more films like this in terms of originality.

Jeff Nichols would have been perfect for a traditional Superman reboot

I like Jeff Nichols and I can see his style working with this.

I don't mind a Spinoff existing within the same universe as long as it remains faithful to the world it exists in without stepping on the source material to one up it's prior films. I'm looking at you Hobbs and Shaw. I would hope for a spinoff that takes place in a major city during the moment the aliens crash land to earth. Call it "The Loudest Place"

Why the hell would (Spoilers)

The girl go off on her own without talking to the mom. They were supposed to get out of that place the next day and had nowhere to go…if the girl just told the mom the plan and where they could go she probably would’ve been like “okay, good idea”
But instead she goes out by herself and can’t even tell how quiet she’s being and what’s around her? Bad plot device but I get it they wanted a reason to separate them all. How did more people not utilize those boats?

Nichols is a great director and the material could be interesting to explore, but this is funny, watch Paramount try to turn this into a cinematic universe.

Not surprising at all they're continuing this universe. Think its pretty impressive the sequels manages to out-gross the original in a pandemic.

Wonder how they're gonna keep it fresh though with the monsters (haven't seen part II yet so don't actually know they did that in Part II).

Will the cloverfield monster show up? I still find it funny this was supposed to be a Cloverfield movie before the third film shit the bed so bad that no one wanted that brand name anymore. Still kind of obvious though. The monsters even look like little Cloverfield monsters.
