Now, this is pretty cool. A while back, Platinum Dunes was set to produce a brand new Halloween film, but that is not happening anymore. But, while everything was still in motion, Marvel Studios' animatics supervisor and storyboard artist Federico D'Alessandro, who worked on Thor, The Avengers, Captain America: The First Avenger and upcoming Iron Man 3, made this animated pitch reel for the film. Check it out:

Not bad, huh? And here is what D'Alessandro had to say:

"As a lifelong HALLOWEEN fan it would be a dream to direct a reboot of the franchise that's so near and dear to my heart. I created this animatic to show the tone and storytelling that I would bring to the project if I were lucky enough to have that chance. If you like it, please repost...if this gets enough hits, who knows, maybe I'll get that opportunity!

It turned out pretty cool, but unfortunately while I was in the middle of working on it, talks fell through between Platinum Dunes and the Weinsteins…so I missed the boat on that one,” D’Alessandro tells us. “With Halloween being re-released to theaters soon, and October coming up, I’m hoping that readers could get a kick out of seeing a horror themed pitch animatic for a major property."

It couldn't have been worse than Rob Zombie's hillbilly fests.

Platinum Dunes has ruined so many horror classics already, I'm glad this is not happening.

That 9 minute animatic was better than nearly ALL of Rob Zombie's 2 attempts combined!

That was pretty terrible. Typical tone and visuals of the horrible Platinum Dunes remakes of classic horror movies. I'm glad this never happened. "Halloween" has always and will always be my favourite horror movie of all time.

You never know if a movie will turn out good, but this pitch reel looks like a damn good start

I've been a lifelong fan of the "Halloween" franchise for my entire life. Personally, I think this would be great if he were given a shot at it. It would take reboot it, but keep a similar but, dare I say, darker tone to eat. I'll definitely repost this everywhere!

@LoudLon: I actually thought their "Friday the 13th" wasn't too bad (like killing everyone using skills you would learn at a camp) and "Nightmare on Elm Street"(although I was never a fan of the originals to begin with) had brief shining moments (such as the micro-naps and planting a seed of doubt as to whether Freddy was actually a child molester). But, let's be honest, there hasn't been a good slasher movie in a long time, no matter the company. The only exception to this would be "Behind the Mask:The Rise of Leslie Vernon"

@darkmetal: I really have nothing against "Rob Zombie's Halloween" ("Rob Zombie's H2" is a different story, however). I took it as an alternate universe in the Michael Myers mythos (akin to comic books). Although, I did find it very hypocritical that the chief complaint was that the original series had become to convoluted and with stories trying to explain why Michael Myers became "The Shape," but Dimension Films okayed Rob Zombie's version which gave Michael Myers a history and a reason for becoming what he became. But I do agree that the "good guy winning" endings should NOT be a part of the Horror genre. Of course, every now-and-then, it's OK if it's handled well (like in "Rob Zombie's Halloween" before the tacked-on that ridiculous sequel). The villain surviving, even after everything is thrown at them, leaves the audience with the feeling that this monster can't be killed. That is what makes a slasher scary. Not f*cked up childhoods, stupid twist endings, or cockamamie deformities. As for this animatic: I think it has potential. Of course it's a variation of the original. The original was terrifying. If this is handled properly, it could be just as terrifying without feeling recycled. But, that's just my opinion

@darkmetal(again): I think I'll have to (kind of)agree with Splenda on this. In the remakes and sequels, the mask took center stage. But the original only gave glimpses of the mask until the climax, and even then visuals of the mask were fleeting. And that's what this animatic did, only gave a brief glimpse of the mask. Michael Myers was, once again, just a shadowy figure creeping up on you.

It looks so good but it was gonna be made by Platinum Dunes.

Wow-- that looks like it actually would have been pretty good! How ironic that Platinum Dunes had a shot at doing a GOOD reboot of the Halloween films, but, unlike their mediocre Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th films, it fell through, leaving us stuck with the Rob Zombie films until God knows when.

Then again, no matter how good the pre-vis and paintings are, they probably would have handed the film over to a crappy music video director to shoot, and he would have ruined the whole thing anyway. So it's probably all for the best.

(I will say, though, I love the subtle homage to the opening sequence of the first film with that gas mask P.O.V. Very clever.)

Freddy and Jason remakes not so much, they let you into there lives way too much there was nothing mysterious about them left. At the end of the movies you knew what there fav restaurants were

The remakes are solid re-imaginings with more substance to them. If they made them just like the originals then there would be zero point making them. The originals were some long make-it-up-as-you-go shit like Star Wars movies, just surviving on spectacle alone.

Maybe these movies have just been beaten and battered too much, everything's been done, especially if your a die hard horror fan. You've seen it all. I personally think there are a lot of great B horror movies out there that smoke the big production movies and they have for some time now

That was hella good. Better than Zombie's remake that's for sure. And I didn't see the end coming. If anyone in authority for this franchise is reading, give this guy a go. That is all.

Me too bud, but I'd take the original Friday even without Jason in it over the original Halloween any day. Halloween gets boring to me.
