In what is being marketed as Jamie Lee Curtis' final confrontation with Michael Myers, fans are steadily becoming more excited for the new Halloween movie after the initial trailer. Returning its roots by including several former cast members, the film aims to be a true successor to the 1978 original, serving as a 40 year anniversary celebration for the Halloween franchise.

As part of Entertainment Weekly's San Diego Comic-Con preview issue, the outlet has revealed a new still from the sequel, as well as commentary from Stronger director David Gordon Green. For fans who are worried that the 2018 film will disregard most of its predecessors, here's what he had to say:

This film isn’t one to narratively recognize any of the films other than the original Halloween . . . But we very much enjoy the other films and there’s a lot of very subtle shout-outs to a number of things that I think the big fans — the people that know the films scientifically — will get a kick out of.

It has become clear that the crew behind the film is very confident in what they have in store. In fact, superstar producer Jason Blum, who has defined modern horror, took to Twitter to deliver his thoughts.

Of course he's going to hype it as being awesome, he's the producer. We'll see come October 19th. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

@RocknRolla - And now you know. :)

That's what the comment section is for, isn't it? To post one's thoughts? There's no rule saying those thoughts have to be positive.

Well with the sudden trend of "sequel reboots" coming out. I hope Friday the 13th gets the same treatment.

@dracula - Fun fact: In the original film, Michael is six years old when he kills his sister in the beginning. Loomis breaks it all down (I'm editing out incidentals):

"I met him, 15 years ago...I met this six-year-old child with this blank, pale, emotionless face...I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up...evil's eyes."

So he establishes Michael was 6 when he killed his sister, and noted twice that it's been fifteen years since. Which would make Michael 21 years old. But in the credits, the actor who stood in during the masking scene is listed as "Michael Myers (age 23)."

I love John Carpenter, but his math sucks. LOL

Anyway, to answer the question of how old Michael must be today, if he was 21 when the original came out in '78, then he had to have been born in '57, which would make him 61 now.

@Kyos - and doing a sequel/reboot after 40 years sounds eerily familiar. Not excited.
