Favreau on Iron Man 2: If Not in 3-D, Then IMAX

Only yesterday, the news dropped that a one-minute demo of Iron Man 2 footage converted into 3-D has been created and Marvel Studios is shopping around for a good price on converting the entire movie into 3-D. However, before you get too excited (or bent out of shape if you're not a big 3-D fan), think back to an interview director Jon Favreau gave to MTV not too long ago in which he said that it's unlikely we'll ever see Iron Man 2 in the 3-D format:

"There are a few drawbacks to it at this point--there's more cost involved, and it also forces you to shoot digitally. My cinematographer [Matthew Labatique] really likes film, and Iron Man had a certain look because it was film."

However, if you're just dying to see Iron Man 2 in another format, Favreau did leave open the possiblity of seeing it in IMAX:

"...either shooting in the IMAX format, or blowing it up to IMAX."
