Iron Man 2 a "Risky Movie," Says Downey

Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. gives us an update as to how Iron Man 2 is coming along -- and a warning...

He says that the movie will be "incredibly risky and artistic for a big genre movie."

"The set pieces have to do with things that aren't your typical bad guy conflict. The relationships are very complex and hilarious.

Downey Jr. says Iron Man 2 will be a "risky genre movie."
"The motivations Tony has and why he turns around and does things has completely to do with his own internal processes...we're kind of trying to tell a story about how a dysfunctional family saves life on Earth as we know it."

Downey Jr. went on to say that he's taking the movie more seriously than any other movie he's ever done, and also that Gary Shandling has joined the cast to play a Senator.

BS!!! How can it be risky lmao! Hype!! The First ones out an if they wanted 'risky' they would have him having issues with the bottle so he's best mate could take over the role of IRON MAN before he becomes WARMACHINE! Thats risky! ; )

Happy Birthday! How old are ye?

Yeah i like the sound of "Risky" but like leee777 says it could just be Downey hyping up the movie. Apparantly they arnt doing the demon in a bottle story. Dysfunctional family saves the earth! Sounds very Avengerish to me. So the family in this case must be Stark, Widow, War Machine, Fury and maybe someone else.

It sounds like they're going balls out for the IRON MAN sequel! Let's see if it'll rank up there with TDK! :)

This is laughable. With out the drinking and given what John usually directs or is involved in the only risky thing that could possibly be associated with this other than the drinking is raunchy humor.

Im sure it wont be as complex as Watchmen so i dont think its gonna be that risky. Simple linear plots even for comic book movies dont fly no more.

Happy Birthday Tyko and davidzuck.

I am so excited for this. I gotta tell you, when Iron man came out, I wasn't expecting it to be what it was. I like Iron Man just as much as I liked the Dark Knight.

Mr. Jojo Risin are you actually saying that Iron Man is more belieable than Batman ? Rofl that is one of the funniest things I think I have ever seen. Both are comics in a fantastic world and neither is believable however if you had to pick one that was more believable it would be Batman. Tony Stark is a man who developed a suit that can fly lift up cars blast lasers make him super agile is very sleak and no at all bulky and what else oh yea completely impossible at the moment. Bruce Wayne is a man who basically lost his mind learned martial arts and dresses up in a Bat Suit. Lets face it if we had to pick which one was more likely to happen in the real world it's an obvious choice.

With that Iron Man was a entertaining movie, but it isn't even comparable to The Dark Knight. Also if you want to talk about Jon and make him look talented you could of mentioned a decent movie that he made like Swingers or something Elf was a pile of horse crap.

woooohoo! Sounds great. I am curious about what he means by "dysfunctional family".

Stark's family maybe? Could be very interesting

stupify_me - 4/20/2009, 11:02 PM
Well can't say I agree with anything you said Jojo. I don't think which one is more beliable is a matter of opinion. Since one is mostly just a guy who knows how to fight and the other is highly based on tech that doesn't exist and may never exist. Either way that's besides the point.

There is no difference between film and movie. A film is a movie and a movie is a film. They are one and the same so your logic is well lacking logic. The only thing Iron man was better than The Dark Knight at was humor.

Yes John made stinkers. Not everything he touched is gold. Elf was pure crap. Also he did make Swingers, but I was mistaken he didn't direct it He only wrote produced and co starred in it.

Its really like comparing chalk and cheese with Nolan and Favereux, the only thing they have in common is they both made movies based on comic book characters. Imo Nolan is an amazing director. Memento, Insomnia, The Prestige, Batman Begins and TDK are all classics. But im a huge fan of his style, id get how someone wouldnt be. Fav is also a very competent film maker and i loved Iron Man, but you cant really compare it to the Dark Knight. It was a fun, exiting and brilliantly performed (by Downey and Bridges at least) action movie. TDK was just in a different league. For me it was like the 2001:A Space Odessy for comic book movies. Its the standard bearer.

"Chalk spliced with cheese...and a beard"

I agree with everything Rorschach01 just said.

Except for Insomnia being a classic. Sorry bro, I tried several times on that one... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
