Willem Dafoe, the actor behind Tars Tarkas in the Andrew Stanton-directed science fiction epic John Carter talked to The Playlist at last week's promotional event in Arizona, where he confirmed that he and some of the cast have signed on to return for possible sequels, first one being The Gods of Mars, which is of course based on the second novel in the Barsoom series.

"I am. If it succeeds, there are potentially two or three of them and I know Andrew’s signed on, Taylor's signed on, Lynn's signed on. So if it happens, I know it’s the same people and there’s only the hope that we can go deeper."

This will definitely please fans of the book and the movie, one can only hope that word-of-mouth and a good turnout by fans and the general public will ensure a sequel(s) to John Carter.

I knew Disneys' got their balls invested in this franchise.
Why? This is their big blockbuster replacement for 'Pirates'.

Mark my words.

There is no denying that Disney had balls by investing in this film. NO ONE wanted to spend that amount of money before. Because every studio thought it wouldn't be possible to make it. I really hope everyone goes see it when it's released.
