Last night, Warner Bros. showed off footage from its DC Comics slate at the National Association of Theater Owners Fall Summit to promote movies like Justice League and Aquaman. On hand to big the movies up was Geoff Johns and the comic book writer and DC Films boss and he made some very interesting comments about recent test screenings for the former (which confirms they happened).

According to Regal Films' Chris Sylvia on Twitter, Johns said: "Flash is the collective favourite coming out of Justice League." This probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise considering the fact that it was always the plan for Ezra Miller's Scarlet Speedster to bring some levity to the movie and you have to believe that Joss Whedon will have added to that in order to ensure he's a fan-favourite.

The Fastest Man Alive will return in Flashpoint, a movie it's believed will also include members of the Justice League. That was supposed to be released next year but the studio is clearly taking its time to make sure the project is satisfactory to fans and a solid launching platform for the hero moving forward. Are you excited to see the Flash in action this November? Share your thoughts down below.

so ezra is another actor who got "bad casting" crys from many idiots & become a fan favorite ... btw you can hate Snyder but he is a terrific casting director ! Nobody would cast Affleck,Gadot,Mamoa & Ezra only ray fisher is unwritten page right now for me

@HugoStiglitz - Let's not give him praise yet. Very few people have seen this movie. We need a bigger sample that some test-screeners, but this is a good sign. He's been a big question mark for me as Flash, not because I doubt his acting ability, but because what little they have shown us makes me think of Eisenberg's Lex impression... I sure hope he pulls it off. Flash is too awesome to waste.

@HugoStiglitz - Yeah, that's about all he should do: cast actors. He can't direct them, that's for sure.

@HugoStiglitz - Im pretty sure alot of people go into the discussion of who to cast. But as always people praise and criticize the director for everything.

@HugoStiglitz - Let's also add that "Audience Favorite" isn't the same as "Well-Cast".

People will swear up and down that Quicksilver stole Days of Future Past, but... he's not really anything like the comicbook Quicksilver. He's actually more or less Wally West. And again, it seems likely that Miller's Allen is going to be more of a take on West. And it's actually a pretty simple formula that Hollywood understands: "Fast Guy = Mercurial = Fun".

All that's a long way of saying it's obviously better for audiences to enjoy a character than to not enjoy them, but it is more complicated than just "people like X, so X was the right decision".

Affleck and Eisenberg were clearly bad casts. I'll eat half my crow now about Gadot, though, and the other half if she delivers in Justice League and proves she can act without Patty Jenkins around.

@Spock0Clock - I disagree with this assesment.

I dont really see how him not being like his comic book character made him a less of a showstopper.

@Spock0Clock - Dont disagree with the rest.

@YESCipher - That's not what I'm saying. To be "well cast", I'm saying you have to be reasonably comic-accurate, regardless of how entertaining an audience may find it.

Similar (though a bit less severe) with ScarJo as Black Widow. Even if people come out of the theater saying "I love how goofy and funny Black Widow is", that doesn't mean she's doing Black Widow justice.

I should note that I don't consider "well cast" to be the be-all-end-all measurement of a character's success, anyway. An actor can be poorly cast, still give a good performance, and grow a character into "their version". I'm just saying I prefer when you start from a source-faithful place and then deviate as is organic.

It can work out the other way, though. Paul Rudd is a pretty piss-poor Scott Lang, but Lang was pretty boring anyway, so I'm not sure anyone cared. But I would think people would care a bit with Barry Allen.

(Also, Paul Rudd is awesome. Just for the record. When your choice is Anything Else or Paul Rudd, go for Paul Rudd. Wright made the right choice, there.)

Cough cough Jesse Eisenberg.

Is that because Superman is only going to be in the last 5mins

@Knightrider - I doubt it. The Flash was often the standout in the Justice League animated series as well.

@SisterSunday52 -
Flash is the standout of the Arrowverse, too.

@SisterSunday52 - Haha I'm just bitter as Superman is my favorite character and just wanted him to be the leader like the Animated Series instead of becoming Superman again.

I'm sure Flash will be great.

My theory is the speech Bruce is giving in the trailer about what Superman was to the world, he's giving that to a newly resurrected Clark who is probably suffering memory loss or doubt about becoming Superman again.

Personally, I'm really excited to see Aquaman. Haven't been a fan of Ezra in anything I've seen him in so hoping he wins me over...Gal sure did.

This is what had be baffled. I thought as long as Justice League didn't completely screw up that there was a 99% chance that The Flash would emerge as a clear favorite and it was a wonderful idea that the first post-Justice League movie was going to be a The Flash so when they couldn't decide on a direction or a director and they kept pushing it back I was left scratching my head and saying don't waste this golden opportunity. But then when they switched it to what looks like a big crossover movie with Flashpoint that's when I lost hope again that they have any real direction as a company.
