As the Disney merger looms, it seems as though Fox is churning out all the projects they possibly can. The studio, which is committed to taking risks now more than ever, is currently developming two Kingsman films concurrently. Though Fox has already officialy announced the production start and late 2019 release date for Kingsman 3, the rumored prequel has not been confirmed by the studio.
Kingsman's World War I prequel film, which may or may not be titled Kingsman: The Great Game, will follow characters led by Harris Dickinson and Ralph Fiennes, presumably in a mentor-mentee relationship. The Daily Mail had also reported that production is set for the first quarter of 2019, making an early 2020 release possible. The first film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, had its opening on Valentine's Day weekend, making this a reasonable date for the prequel.
Speculation points to Kingsman 3 alluding to the mythology that will be further explored in the Fiennes/Dickinson prequel. Due to the merger, it is possible that this may be the final installment in the franchise, making it reasonable to see why Vaughn has kept himself in the franchise bubble, and remains willing to direct both with little breaktime in between. Whether the television series that the director envisioned is still in development is unknown.
