WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Reportedly Taps FRASIER Alum Harriet Sansom Harris As The Halloween's Special's Big Bad

According to a new report, Frasier and Desperate Housewives star Harriet Sansom Harris is set to play the lead villain in Werewolf by Night, the Halloween Special expected to debut on Disney+ this October.

Full Circle Cinema is reporting that Harriet Sansom Harris is among those set to star in Marvel Studios' Werewolf by Night. While the Halloween Special still hasn't been officially announced, production has wrapped and it's expected to be unveiled during Disney+ Day on September 8.

According to the site, Harris is playing a cult leader "from the house of Bloodstone" called Verrusa.

There isn't a character with that name in the comic books, but the Bloodstone name should be instantly familiar. Elsa and Ulysses are prolific monster hunters on the page, while Laura Donnelly is rumoured to be playing Elsa in this Disney+ standalone tale.

Here's where we get into potential spoilers; according to various rumours that have been doing the rounds, Verrusa (this is the first time we've heard her name mentioned) assembles a group of monster hunters to retrieve the Bloodstone. Werewolf by Night poses as one of them, but later learns that they're searching for Man-Thing and that he's among those being hunted down by this group.

Whatever the plan may be for the special, we're definitely intrigued. There have been rumblings that it will be released in black and white, while Gael García Bernal has been tapped to play the title character.

As for Harris, she's taken on a number of big film and television roles. Perhaps best known for her work in Frasier and Desperate Housewives, she's also appeared in the likes of Licorice Pizza, Addams Family Values, and Phantom Thread.

Marvel Studios is clearly embracing the supernatural as we head deeper into The Multiverse Saga, and with Blade also on the horizon, Werewolf by Night feels like the opening salvo in this new era of storytelling. Again, we're keeping everything crossed for a first look next week, so you'll want to keep checking back here for the latest.

Werewolf by Night is expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime this October.

How are they just casting the big bad? No wonder the FX teams are so frustrated.

@JackRussoff3 - I think Feige is doing a great job. I've enjoyed all the shows so far. I feel like they each bring something different to the table and it's exciting seeing them build up the universe with more characters but to each their own. It's understandable that this iteration of the MCU is not to everyone's liking.

@JackRussoff3 - I do like Werewolf By Night and heard Man-Thing was going to be in, so I sort of care but it's Disney Plus so not expecting much.

@smgmayhem -

Phase 4 has been a huge letdown, there are users that don't see anything wrong with the MCU, fair enough but personally I think he needs to go.

@Urubrodi - I speak for quite a bit. Each film has grossed less since the last avengers movie. Spider-Man doesn't count. The reviews get worse with each film as well.

@smgmayhem - the point should be to make money. In the beginning 98% of us we're in lockstep about how awesome the MCU was.

Then "kEVIN" need to start injecting his personal and political views into everything. I would still flip out over the other side of the aisle, by the way.

They're trying to make Stetements instead of good content

@JackRussoff3 - Black Widow was released simultaneously in streaming, Shang-Chi and Eternals two very unknown properties were released right after cinemas reopened from Covid, where a lot of people were still avoiding going to cinemas, Doctor Strange made more than the first one and Thor 4 is not that far behind the third. Regarding reviews, apart from Eternals and Thor 4 the rest has been on par with how they normally are. Shang-Chi and Spider-Man both have above 90 on RT for example.Plus, if you don't really care for it, there is the simplest solution ever, don't watch it.

D23 is gonna be pretty epic. Hoping to see on the Marvel side:

-Werewolf By Night: Halloween Special teaser
-Black Panther 2 trailer
-Ant & Wasp: Quantumania teaser
-GoTG Vol 3 teaser
-Marvels and Loki season 2: maybe some incomplete VFX reel for the live audience

Cast/Crew reveals for:

-Agatha
-Daredevil
-Blade
-Echo
-Thunderbolts
-CA: NWO
-Fantastic 4

And the rest of Phase 6
StSteven

@JoeInTheBox - Well, now, you know that if "She-Hulk" has taught us anything, it's that if Marvel ever shows ANYTHING with incomplete VFX the world as we know it will end and we'll all wake up the next day either as "Channing Taint-yum" or eating "Channing Taint-yum". I saw it all in this documentary a couple of years ago. So Marvel had better be VERY careful with that unfinished VFX.
JoeInTheBox
JoeInTheBox - 8/31/2022, 9:47 AM
@StSteven - That's why I think that if they do, they'll only show it to the audience at D23 and not release it online. Like they did for the Ant-Man 3 and GoTG 3 footage at SDCC.
StSteven
StSteven - 8/31/2022, 12:18 PM
@JoeInTheBox - And just to be safe, they should show all future previews using one of those old-timey grainy film projectors that they used to show films with in Science class in high schools in the 80s. That way the audience will just be able to make out what is happening but will in no way be able to tell how finished/unfinished the VFX are.
