Deadline reports that after hitting $398.8 million yesterday, Men in Black 3 has today passed the $400 million mark at the worldwide box office. After the tepid response to the second film (released over a decade ago) some analysts predicted that the threequel might struggle to surpass that movies box office total of $441 million. It should now have little trouble achieving that, while a few more strong weeks (and higher 3D ticket prices) might just mean that Men in Black 3 eventually ends up eclipsing the $589 million made by the first film in 1997. With a rumoured budget of $225 million, these figures might just be good enough to ensure a fourth movie, although Sony Pictures will more than likely want a smoother and more cost effect production next time around. Don't forget to check out my 4* review by clicking HERE and my exclusive interview with director Barry Sonnenfeld HERE. What did you think of the movie? Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K

Didnt know what to expect, but i enjoyed it and every other person I spoke to that has seen it has liked it. It's a very enjoyable movie and deserves its success. 400 Mil should shut up the haters and I predict that it will finish above 600 mil.

Ya' know, I watched the first MIB a couple of days ago, and it's a really sharp, well-written film.

MIB3 was a little dumb by comparison, with a sappy tacked-on ending. It was better than MIB2, though.

It was fun I thought, nothing outstanding but enjoyable enough. Tommy Lee Jones barely appeared in the movie though, shame.

Uhm, MIB 3 is the sequel....

considering the time between two and three, I'm expecting to be dead before the fourth one is even discussed.

And Tommy Lee Jones isn't exactly getting any younger.

I thought it was fantastic! Not nearly as funny as part one, but LEAPS AND BOUNDS, the most well-written installment in the entire franchise. Exactly what I mean when I say that an alright film can be terrific with the right final impression.

Loved it.

You can tell Will Smith said, "Im too far in my career to do a campy comedy. It better be something profound or dont count me in. Write a better script! What the hell is your problem buddy?! [PIMP SMACK] Myeeahr."

The rumor mill says with the cost of production/marketing/Will's paycheck/etc., it needs to make about 600mil to break even.

Looks like they'll be able to do so but if there is a fourth movie, they will have to be smarter about where they spend the money next time.

@SugarYumYum - That's true to a degree, movies like MIB3 don't rely 100% on their box office receipts. They make quite a killing on merchandise sales so it doesn't matter if the film doesn't make back three times or twice its budget as long as it makes good on the merchandise sales, which for this kind of film can be bigger than the box office by quite a lot and with a higher margin of profit.

Example, Disneys Cars 2 cost $200 million to make, made just under $600 million in box office but made 2.4 billion from merchandise sales. That's 4 times what the movie made!

LMAO at people think the Avenger's box office success means that it is somehow "good." by that kinda math Men in Black III is one of the best movies ever!

let's face it, Americans have shitty taste in movies. they just do.

Now in MIB4, Will Smith is killed after 15 minutes and replaced by one of the Wayans brothers and both Tommy Lee AND Josh Brolin have to go back in time to save him!

This is great! I really like the latest installment.

I, personally, feel satisfied with the ending we go for the third film and I'd like to see it end there. Not to say that it's not deserving of a sequel or anything though.

@brewtownpsych - Avengers was pretty good but I can see where you're coming from. That Star Trek 2009 reboot for example where the villains wait 20 years to get revenge on Spock rather than go to their home planet in that time and warn them of what's gonna happen in the future not to mention the benefit of their advanced technology. Stupid, zero science or common sense based action-comedy shite! Popular only in America!
