Rick Baker Talks Men In Black 3 Aliens And Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

While talking with Shock Till You Drop Rick Baker talked a little bit about his alien designs for Men In Black 3. Baker said that since the movie will be based out of the 60's he wanted to designs aliens that refelct that era with more B movie designs.

Said Baker:

"The thing that's cool is there is a time travel element [to the story]. Where I had fun is that we go back to the Men in Black headquarters of the '60s. The first thing I said is that we should have retro aliens, not aliens of 2012. More based on B-movies of the '50s and '60s. So, a lot of the aliens are based on that. Space suits with fishbowl helmets and ray guns."

Baker also spoke a little about going to see Rise Of The Planet Of the Apes. He worked with Tim Burton on Planet of The Apes and was skeptical about the film, but said the visual effects won him over and he really enjoyed the film.

On Seeing Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes:

"I did and I liked it. I went in totally expecting to hate it and loved it. I got a call from Fox very early on telling me about the project. 'It's going to be really great because we're not going to use any make-up for the apes' is what they told me. That sounded horrible and against what Planet of the Apes is. I didn't want to know about it. Then I went to see it and thought it was a terrific story and what WETA did was fantastic. Good filmmaking and I was happy to see that. It won me over."

Men In Black hits theater on May 25, 2012!

goddamn fanboys!! Rick Baker is probably the best special effects make up artist in the world, he won the first "make up oscar" for Amercian werewolf in london, and has created some of the best creatures in the history of cinema! Any make up artists who work in the film industry (like myself) aspire to his god like status!!

Anywho, now you know who he is.

Rick Baker, Rob Bottin and Tom Savini made this stuff cool before computers and they did it with latex, plastic, some paint. Ray Harryhausen did it with playdoh. Show respect where it is deserved.

I first heard of Rick Baker when he did the effects for King Kong in 1976. He's done truly amazing things since. I agree with Ror.

@CeramycTyle....Exactly! I see truly ignorant comments every day on this site and it makes me sad for humanity, but this guy triation should go back to the bridge he's been living under his whole life andd just stay there.
