According to Deadline, New Regency has teamed up with Gore Verbinski's Blind Wink to produce a dark comedic film titled Pyongyang, which is based on Guy Delisle's graphic novel of the same name. Verbinski, who previously helmed three Pirates Of The Caribbean installments and Rango, will direct the adaptation. The Pursuit Of Happiness Steve Conrad is currently writing the screenplay. Verbinski's next film, Disney's The Lone Ranger, will be released July 3rd. Below is a plot summary for the Pyongyang graphic novel.

Famously referred to as one of the "Axis of Evil" countries, North Korea remains one of the most secretive and mysterious nations in the world today. In early 2001 cartoonist Guy Delisle became one of the few Westerners to be allowed access to the fortresslike country. While living in the nation's capital for two months on a work visa for a French film animation company, Delisle observed what he was allowed to see of the culture and lives of the few North Koreans he encountered; his findings form the basis of this remarkable graphic novel. Pyongyang is an informative, personal, and accessible look at a dangerous and enigmatic country.

Ugh. Had to read this for a graphic novel class. Very boring and scatterbrained with a few absolutely incredible moments spaced out here and there. I have no idea how they're going to turn this into a movie, though.

This is a smart move by Verbinski, book your next gig before your new movie comes out especially if you're unsure if it will go well. Ari Gold taught me that haha
