Do we need reboots?

We have seen these same heroes play in different movies...What happened to the good ol' days?

Why do they make these reboots? I mean do we really want to see the same heroes over again?some say yes and no and this is just a thought I'd like to share. There are so many things being "rebooted" and why? I mean why not give other heroes a moment to shine?Ones like "Flash" or "Dr.Strange"?Well you may agree you may not that's fine, but what i have to say is the simple fact that ones like "Superman" and "Spider-man" all had their chance to shine...I mean what's wrong with just letting them go and moving on?

The reason why some of our Favorite heroes aren't even close to getting that chance is because of these poor heroes being replayed over, and over.....AND over again.I'd love to see different superheroes for a change. I mean wouldn't you?

I loved the first "Punisher" because the character was my favorite and I liked Tom Jane's role as him.I like the Ray Stevenson version, but I was so heavily disappointed because it just wasn't the "Punisher" I wanted. It wasn't as satisfying to me as Tom Jane's was. These reboots ruin and waste all the hard work put into their previous cousins, and I ask why?I mean,is it too much to ask to just give some characters a rest?

I'm just a regular, hard-working family man who loves comics and anything associated with them. I love to draw and play video games in my personal past-time, and I also like to post any news I find right here on CBM.com, what I believe to be the best site for any comic fan.

I disagree with this. I'm just happy to get any CBMs whether they be a reboot or not. A lot of the time when they reboot its because the current director has taken them as far as they can go without them getting repetitive. There was a time I was against the reboot and wanted sequels but then the rebooted films were amazing (namely The Incredible Hulk). If the reboots are quality I don't see a problem with them coming out. It seems like a lot of lesser known characters are being brought to the big screen now anyway so I don't see it as a problem.

EDIT: I don't see it as them having had their time to shine, i like to see different interpretations (sometimes better interpretations [Batman]) Its like the comics, seeing a new spin on the characters.

the only movies that need to be rebooted is the following.

-daredevil
-elektra
-x-men
-fantastic four
-ghost rider
-the punisher
-wolverine

spider-man should of just been spider-man 4,yes change the actors & director but we don't need the origin told again & again.

@TheRiddler98: Batman was definitly a reboot. The amount of time between the two series has nothing to do with whether it is a remake or reboot.

I think that reboots are necessary when the film series goes straight down the crapper. Case in point: Spider-Man 3. Even if the first and second movies were good, the sheer fact that those wretched moments in SM3 would still exist in the Spider-Man continuity simply ruined it for me. And unlike the comics, you can't just ignore an abysmal storyline as if it never happened, and you can't retcon it either. It's their permanently until you reboot. That's one thing that I'm scared of with the MCU. Hopefully this gives Marvel incentive to make good films from here on out.

However, I think it's really dumb to retell a story that's already been told WELL in the previous franchise. An example would be Spider-Man's origin. The origin story was so brilliantly told in Raimi's trilogy that there's no way that Sony (or even Marvel) can top that. Stories that we definitely need to see redone would be the origin of Doctor Doom, the Galactus trilogy, and the alien symbiote.
