My problem with these guys is that they're panhandlers with a gimmick. And God forbid you don't give them a buck for taking a photo with them, oh hell breaks loose.

No one is prohibiting their rights to gather, or beg for money, but since they are presenting themselves as registered characters, they are misrepresenting the proper rights holders. I mean c'mon, Superman drinking? Vader moaning about his problems? I don't think DC or Lucasfilm likes that very much. I don't.

That's the problem with what they are doing. They're just low-grade leeches. Hell, I'm a pretty good artist and writer. What's to stop me from producing my own Spiderman comic? Oh yeah, the law!

What these guys COULD do is create their OWN characters, their OWN costumes and then see how they fare. OR, they could go ask the rights holders for, oh, what's that thing called again....oh, yeah, permission!

Would you tip someone to take a picture with The Stupendous Bulk or SuperDuper Man?

@Leee777 Disney owns the characters it schleps out to the people...at a place they own. These two-cent whores are only trying to circumvent the RIGHT way to do this.

Do you think they should get under-the-table money, stealing someone else's property?

I was going to put on my Leee777 costume and head down to the Harbor to take pics with tourists!

Or maybe you guys who support these @$$-clowns should all paypal me a buck cuz I use a Dr. Fate avatar! Look at me, I'm Dr. Fate! A buck for your future??!!

as much as i want tem back on the blvd. if their bills are piling up they should just take the plunge and get a job and still protest as to why they can't be there. i agree they ARE the heart of blvd. a great tourist attraction (trap). i hope for the best for them.

LOL two years ago my Mom and Dad were out there for a wedding. On the walk of fame they saw a guy dressed like Spider-Man. He asked my mom if she wanted to get a picture for "a couple of bucks" she said sure and the guy had my dad take a POLAROID of them. Then he demanded FIFTEEN dollars for the picture. My mom said five and the guy said no. She told him to keep the picture! LOL I know a few people who live out there and they say that some of them are as aggressive as the homeless. The only difference between pan handling and this is they wear costumes!

If you really want to understand these guys, go to Hulu.com and search for "Confessions of a Superhero." It's actually an amazing documentary that shows the struggles and commitments of these guys, as well as their passion, and often poor judgement.

Superman has been doing this for 19 years, and he always followed the law. Some others made a bad name for everyone, pushing for money, and got them all banned.

See the correct answer to "Does it cost anything?" should have been "Only if you want to." That's the problem, they're trying to force people to give money, not all, but I bet most. Making it a job and a source of income sounds like it might fall under copyright infringement. Maybe Marvel and DC and other companies should hire these guys to do this under them, then it makes it good advertising, provides jobs, and gives the tourists something fun to do. Plus if people get out of hand they are accountable to someone.

i dont get y it is such a big deal for them to dress up. we obviously know that they arent representing anyone but themselves or they would have much better costumes and not something they wore for halloween when they were 10. everyone needs to back off and just let the bums have their fun. are they going to start arresting people during halloween when we dress up like batman and get drunk and take pictures and put them up on the internet?
