First off, I am a comic book fan. I love them. While most people in this society see these characters and books as being more for children than for adults, I see them as great (for the most part) stories about heroes, villains, and the balance between right and wrong, good and evil. Now I must say this before I start: I am more inclined to read DC heroes than I am Marvel. It is what I grew up on and what I love most comic book wise. Marvel is great. I love Spider-Man, Captain America, The X-Men, and Daredevil, just not as much as Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash.
The reason I am writing this is not that I doubt any of you don't love these characters as much as I. I am writing this because it has become apparent over the last couple years this site is incredibly biased to loving Marvel and Batman. I don't really care if you like Marvel over DC. I do mind when all I see is constant hate toward anything DC related and Marvel Comics and movies taking the main stage over DC characters. (I will admit, Marvel is much more interesting to read most of the time than DC.)
This fact is more proven in the constant hate and [female dogging] over the soon to be released film, "Green Lantern." As a DC fan, this movie is way bigger than the movie itself. I would actually say this movie is more important this summer than any other comic book movie coming out. I say this only because if this movie fails, like many of you either keep saying it will or hoping it will for some reason, not only will the Flash most likely not be made; any chance for a Justice League movie will be lost for a long, long time. This is unacceptable.
Now, I know many of you are rolling your eyes right now. Honestly I almost didn't write this thinking it was going to be a waste of time trying to convince the probable 90% of you that are Marvel fans. Yet I urge you, my fellow comic book fans, stand together this summer and support all the comic book movies (besides X-Men, I want that one back at Marvel).
The trailer might have been rough for some. After comparing it to the first "Iron Man" trailer, I say even though it might not be the best CGI in the world (a problem I'm sure they will fix) this movie is important to us all, as comic book fans. Not Marvel fans, or DC fans, but comic book fans.
Trust me. I've heard all the arguments on why it looks bad, but take a step back, look at whom the trailer was intended, and ask yourself, besides the slight comedic tone and unfinished CGI, is it really that much worse than what we've seen from Cap and Thor? (Thor looks totally bad ass BTW)I would even argue, with a better second trailer, this movie might be one of the best CBMs this summer.
Please do not say articles like this make DC fans look weak. If Captain America or Thor was being constantly told they look like crap by a bunch of DC fans, you'd be writing articles like this, too. I know I'm in a huge minority on this site already, and the constant attacks on DC are more like bullying than a "rivalry." It would have to be a fair fight for it to be considered a true rivalry and it's obvious that there are way more Marvel fans than DC fans here.
Thank you, if you actually read this whole thing.
One more thing, if the CGI suit is skin tight on the upper half, why shouldn't it be skin tight on the lower half, too? Not saying I would want that, it just doesn't make sense.
