AVATAR 2 Trailer Expected To Debut In Front Of DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS

After years (the sequels were first announced back in 2017) of development, we're finally set to return to Pandora for the first follow-up to James Cameron's Avatar this December, and we may now have an update on the long-awaited trailer.

The Ankler (via SFFGazette.com) is reporting that a preview "of some sort" for Avatar 2 is set to screen in front of Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness on May 6.

Nothing is official and this is likely subject to change, but this date would make sense. Disney is reportedly hoping to replicate the success of Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home with Sam Raimi's sequel, and offering audiences a first glimpse of some footage from Cameron's sci-fi epic would ensure maximum ticket sales.

Specific plot details are still under wraps, but 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell recently gave fans an idea of what to expect from this "family saga."

"It’s going to blow people away," he told THR"You’re not ready for what [James Cameron] is doing. I can tell you that there is no better marketing apparatus in the business than the one at Disney. They will do an incredible job reigniting that passion for the original film. This is not just a sequel, it’s a saga. And it’s a family saga. It will be compelling on its own, but it will also be extremely compelling to return to those characters and to see how they’ve evolved."

Avatar 2 is set to hit theatres on December 16, 2022. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña will return as Jake Sully and Neytiri, alongside Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Edie Falco.
