STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI - Discover More About The Mysterious Crystal Foxes Glimpsed In The Latest Trailer

Well, we can now stop referring to the mysterious new creatures that debuted in the most recent trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi as Crait foxes or crystal foxes. EW has revealed that they're actually known as vulptices, and it sounds like they're going to play a fairly important role in the plot of the film - at least where certain characters are concerened.

Here's what head of the Star Wars creature workshop Neal Scanlan had to say about the translucent beings:

“The idea is that these wonderful sort of feral creatures had lived on this planet and had consumed the planet’s surface, and as such had become crystalline. They live within the burrows and within the tunnels beneath the planet, so there is a time where their ability to shine within the darkness, should provide a guiding light to our heroes.”

Don't be surprised if Finn and Rose rely on some help from the vulptices as they attempt to make their escape from Crait.

Check out a new image and VFX featurette below. Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters next month.

@ODanil - Still do not look anything alike. There are many mystical foxes in asian folklore, and many compare jedi to samurai. So i think they are crossing similer lines,

what a great time to be ten years old! You get a Star Wars movie every year and you have the REBELS series.
Back in my day we had only 3 movies and 2 Ewok tv movies. And cable tv was 10 stations :)
