"Basically, there are a few early concepts of the “BDC” (Brightwood Data Center) - the lab set up by Johnny Depp’s character “Will Caster”, who is at the forefront in the development of sentient computers. It’s a lab set in the near future that utilizes some very forward thinking technology (not to give any spoilers away). There is also the “PINN Computer Core” - which was a quantum computer core developed by Caster in order to create the foundation for a sentient computer system that could become self-aware. As well, I’ve included some early concepts for the small town of “Brightwood”, where “Evelyn Caster” (Rebecca Hall) has set up shop in order to carry out her husband’s work. I had a great time working with Production Designer Chris Seagers and Director Wally Pfister, who's vision for the film was a blur between the seductive, bright, shiny sleekness of advanced technology and the dark, shadowy uncertainty of our future fate as technology plays into our own evolution and place on this planet" - Victor James Martinez

Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him. However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should. Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

TRANSCENDENCE - directed by Wally Pfister, from a screenplay written by Jack Paglen. Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas are Executive Producers. The cast includes: Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Cillian Murphy, Clifton Collins, Jr., and Morgan Freeman. In theaters and IMAX on April 18.

Movie wasn't as bad as some are saying. It was a decent man vs machine movie that took some original routes and had some original messages/themes

I remember Youngman. But you know what, I thought he may have been a little correct in that assumption. We'll see how Interstellar turns out but I'm thinking we'll know which half walked away with the talent.

i like this movie, strong character, good concept, and maybe just like in the films, we create nano in the future and use it to clean the air, regenerate the broken parts of body, etc, not the best, but i like the story

Hmmm, at first it was perceived to be a big threat to CATWS at the box office. Reality is it's a major flop. A big name isn't a guarantee to make it a huge success after all.
