Brie Larson Joins KONG: SKULL ISLAND; MAN OF STEEL's Russell Crowe Eyed For Role
Kong: Skull Island was recently dealt a serious blow when Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons left. However, Brie Larson (Short Term 12, Trainwreck) has now joined the cast, while Russell Crowe is being eyed.
Deadline reports that Brie Larson is in talks for the lead female role in Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island. She joins the already confirmed Tom Hiddleston, the only actor not to bail on the project after Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons decided it wasn't for them due to reported scheduling conflicts (we've heard that before). Regardless, the site adds that Russell Crowe is being eyed to replace one of them, so it looks set to still have a very impressive ensemble. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing from a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein (though Tony Gilroy is apparently working on a new draft right now), and it's set to be released on March 10th, 2017.
