Star Trek: Discovery will star Sonequa Martin-Green in the lead role, as well as James Frain (Sarek), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Stamets), Michelle Yeoh (Starfleet Captain Georgiou), and Shazad Latif as a Klingon officer named Kol.

I used to be a Star Trek fan.. but no more. I don't think this show is changing that. I also have idealogical reasons for not being interested in Star Trek. It promotes a futuristic police state that we're supposed to like.

@ImmovableForce - Isn't there an Antifa rally you're missing out on? A road you need to block somewhere?

@Buckster10 - I 2nd your motion. Greed kills. People did not learn anything from Kevin Spacy in Se7en.

Not so sure of this, it takes place before TOS but they seem to be far more advanced from a tech perspective. Also the Klingons appear to look like they do in later shows versus how they looked in TOS. I know thats a product of the time but it's little details. I also don't like that this show doesn't focus on the Captain/Commander.

I'll still watch but I have a feeling this will end up more like Enterprise versus TNG, DS9 and Voyager.

@continuezero - Enterprise was freaking GREAT, man.

@bropous - Really you liked Enterprise? I could never get into it personally. It's the lowest ranked of all the Trek shows for me personally.

@continuezero - Enterprise wasn't so bad. Not great, but watchable, if you can suspend your disbelief.

@captquirk - Interesting, I haven't found too many people that enjoyed Enterprise. I really could never get into it at all.

@continuezero - I don't think these are regular Klingons. Producer made a comparison a while back about how the Fed is made up of many worlds/races & said the Klingon Empire is too. I took that to mean these could be "cousins" like Vulcan/Romulan. Don't know for sure though.

@CoolJerk - I'm sure they have some sort of explanation. I know the Klingons looked they way they did in TOS due to the limitations of make up and such at the time. I know in that one Tribble Episode of DS9 where O'Brian and Bashir ask Worf why the old Klingons look the way they do compared to him and he kind of gives a tongue in cheek answer about it being a "secret" so I know its just one of those things. Even in the deleted slip from the 2009 Trek movie they Klingons looked more like they do in this show so maybe its just one of those things we overlook.

@continuezero - You probably gave up on it by season three, most people did. BUT season four was run by Manny Coto -- the same guy who did some of the best 24 seasons. At the beginning of s4, he wraps up the timeline stuff that had dragged on, and they did lots of great shows. He even explained the Klingon head bumps vs smooth tops, tying in Khan in the process. There's some brilliant stuff.

@continuezero - Enterprise, s4e4-6 "Borderland," "Cold Station 12," and "The Augments" — includes the Klingons, Khan Noonien Singh, and Dr. Soong (played by Brent Spiner).

@SmirkPyrite - Thanks, I'll have to check that out. Like I say I wasn't a huge Enterprise fan but I'll go back and give it a second look.

@continuezero - Enterprise became good in the 3rd season; especially, with gems like "Twilight," and E2. In fact, E2 demonstrated my theory that Tripp was better fit for captain.

OFF TOPIC:

25th Anniversay of "Batman Returns" today.

A film which probably would never fly in today's era, but one that will always stay with me as something truly magical...in it's Tim Burton nightmarish way.

And it taught me two important lessons...
1.) Never try to blow fire on the Batmobile.
2.) make sure to wear a belt when letting batman punch you.
