SPOILERS: Details On 'Finn' & 'Rey' From STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

Force Friday merchandise has provided us with quite a few details on the new characters we'll be meeting in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the following Halloween costume descriptions are by far the most SPOILERIFIC yet. Find out more about Finn & Rey after the jump...

You may want to go into Star Wars: The Force Awakens knowing as little as possible about the plot and characters, and if that's the case you're advised to read no further. Okay? But for those that don't mind finding out a few extra details we have the following descriptions from the official Halloween costumes for Finn and Rey.

Seeing Finn (John Boyega) in his Stormtrooper gear led to speculation that he must have commandeered it and was posing as a bad guy to escape, but it turns out that's not the case - he is (or rather, was) a First Order Stormtrooper! What makes him switch sides in unclear, but based on the description below he won't be conflicted about his loyalties once he joins the Resistance anyway.

"Sometimes, heroes come from the unlikeliest of places. The Galactic Empire has been dead for decades, but evil never really dies. With villains rising to take the Empire’s place, heroes must rise to oppose them. After becoming stranded by himself in the deserts of Jakku, and meeting up with a girl named Rey, a Stormtrooper named Finn has joined the side of the Resistance. He began his adventure as a part of the New Order, but now he’s one of the few people that can stop them. With a new look, Finn is ready for a new mission. Since trading in his Stormtrooper armor for a new set of gear, Finn’s outfit might not be flashy, but it’s all that a hero needs to succeed."

The Rey (Daisy Ridley) stuff is less about her character (we already knew was a scavenger from the planet Jakku) and more about a specific scene from the film. By the sounds of things this is not a lady to mess with.

"The mission to take down the First Order is underway! After invading the Starkiller Base, one member of the Resistance has split from her group and found herself in a massive room full of First Order soldiers. Completely surrounded by Stormtroopers with blasters and Knights of Ren with lightsabers, she seems to be totally outnumbered. Unfortunately for her enemies, though, they’ve made a big mistake: it’s not about the strength of the weapon, but the strength of the warrior that wields it."

Rey taking on an entire room full of Stormtroopers AND lighsaber-wielding Knights of Ren? We don't know for sure that this will happen in the actual movie, but it sounds like a hell of a scene, and suggests that this "scavenger" is a lot more formidable than she seems. There's some more details about Kylo Ren at the link below, so be sure to take a look.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18.

Wait how are they the resistance if the Empire is dead? They shouldn't be called the resistance if the Empire is dead. Shouldn't they be called the New Republic army or something. Just the synopsis of these characters and info we have of the movie kind of contradicts itself.

Props on the avatar I loved Angry Beavers and the episodes with Muscular Beaver and his enemy/ally/enemy/ally Baron Bad Beaver were always great.

The EMPIRE as a group is dead, but the First Order has risen to take its place. That's why there is a Resistance. Maybe the empire as aregime and not a group is still there.

It's fine if they said that though the Emperor is dead the Galactic Empire still stands with a new leader but they specifically say here the "Empire" is dead. You can't be a resistance if the government body you were resisting is dead and gone.

I don't see an issue with them being called the resistance, The First Order seem to be the ones in control by the time this movie starts.

Well they're not resisting the Empire, they're resisting The First Order

Okay but the way this was worded makes no sense. I am fine with some new leader or order taking the reins of the Empire it is a nod to the very popular Thrawn Trilogy of books that takes place 5 years after episode 6.

so is rey going to be wielding a lightsaber then? She better be freaking force sensitive since i think its pretty obvious that her and kylo are going to be twins.

I would have liked the story to go like this:

-There is a prophecy that a male Descendant/Heir of Vader will be responsible for awakening the Dark Side once more (or something like that).

-Beliving it is going to be him, Luke goes on exile.

-Twins Rey and Kylo Solo are born. Beliving the Galactic Council will kill/imprison Kylo, Han and Leia decide to hide him. They keep secret the fact that he is their son, and give him to the Jedis to train him.

-In Episode VII, Rey finds Luke, who tells her about the Prophecy. The audience is led to belive that the Prophecy really was about Luke, who was unintentionally responsible for the creation of the Knights of Ren.

-In Episode VIII Kylo Ren reveals to Rey the whole story and that he is her brother, paying tribute to the Vader revelation in Episode V.

Side Note: I really want Kylo's motivations for joining the Knig

That resistance thing really sucks, it just ruins the original trilogy. The good guys didnt really win? The prophecy was supposed to mean that Luke would defeat the empire, establish a new government. It was all in vain? This is f*cking idiotic.

U know what I hope Disney does for IMAX screenings of Star Wars: The Force Awakens? They should have the 6-minute "Captain America: Civil War" trailer with finished VFX be screened in front of all IMAX 3D showings of TFA. Do u think they'll do it?

I'm guessing in thi film, the Light side of the Force has been dormant fr some time. Knights of Ren, being the dark side, have kept the dark side strong. Finn may be the reawakening of the light side of the Force, he and Luke. And then Luke, comes out of hiding to train him to be the leader of a new age for the Force. He's the 1st in a reawakening of the light and Luke's return is also a reawakening as his return to society makes the dark side aware of a strong part of the Force returning. This may lead to that Snoke voice over speaking about a reawakening in a long dead facet of The Force

This is still possible, if this was in fact Adam Driver and Gwendoline Christie's characters at the same set location, it appears they were on the side of good before turning evil.

I'm hoping we get a scene between Luke and Ren where Luke spoils Ren's idea of Vader being this dark lord .....Luke tells him that his father was the chosen one who destroyed the empire all those years ago

Yeah, cause after overthrowing an evil dictator everything is immediately peachy keen. Berlin in the '50s was especially lovely. That's why Libya is such a popular destination spot. Personally, I'm thinking of visiting Syria over the holidays; it sounds really peaceful. Or maybe Baghdad.

"The Jedi Order took Force-sensitive children at a young age to start training them to become Jedi.he presence of Force-sensitives in a vicinity could also be sensed. For more accuracy, they performed midi-chlorian counts to detect Force-sensitivity in candidates. There were also several other testing technologies developed to hunt Force-sensitives during the Great Jedi Purge."

I think it would've been cool if Finn was instead an apprentice of the Knights of Ren who was kidnapped as a child and trained to be a Knight. Then he later defects and joins the light side. An origin somewhat similar to Star Killer...somewhat

I thought that was a forgone conclusion.

They're both owned by Disney, so I can't imagine why they wouldn't take advantage of Star Wars' highly anticipated release to promote Civil War. It makes too much sense not to, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

It's been a few years since I watched the original trilogy (even though i almost destroyed the Trilogy VHS tapes from watching them so much).

Time to dive back in! And ya, I mean the original trilogy without all the added CGI nonsense

@Starfox - I don't think Finn will be a Jedi, I think he just pulled the lightsaber out for self defense. Rey on the other hand will turn out to be force sensitive. And I think she will somehow be revealed as a Solo. I think Luke's dialogue about how his father, he, and his sister having it, will be directed towards Rey.
Utopian8418

@ComicsBornAndBred replace Finn for Luke and Luke for Obi Wan and ypu just described A New Hope. I hate this, everything in the original trilogy is pointless now.

@RexDartEskimoSpy Well the allies werent the "resistance" in post war Berlin, thet were the government.

When the rebels overthrow a dictator, they become the new government. Thats just hpw it is. This movie means that Luke never really won, the revels never really won, they are just the reaiatance.

I would be ok if the "New Order" was some tipe of resistance.

@Starfox @Humby Why would they mislead the audience like that, makes no sense at all, is it really hard to belive? The first official poster had Finn as the jedi, he is the jedi. I wanted jedi Rey Solo but I also like Finn as the jedi. I have my problems with the movie but it will probably turn out awesome.

You think killing the emperor would suddenly make everyone surrender? The empire was built on fear and power so there would plenty of people (governors, moffs generals trying to fill the power vacuum of palpatines death. Probably find out they spent all their time fighting amongst themselves and the first order were the winners.

@BruceWillis thats what this film is sounding like, a kind of new take on New Hope. Its as if they are modernizing the classic elements of the original trilogy. Thats what im getting from this film. It seems as if Finn ins the new kid on the block being all force sensitive...there's talk of a reawakening of the force like in New Hope with Luke alerting Vader of his existence with his force sensitivity and there hadnt been jedi in a long time back then...Rey being the roguish female like Leia....I think you've touched upon something few people have and thats that this film is like a contemporary New Hope. Thats either a good thing or a bad thing depending on one's perspective. The whole trio of Rey, Finn and Poe is an obvious homage to the original trilogy as well. Is t anything new, not really but maybe JJ thinks people miss something that hasnt been around for 30 years and is hoping that various homages to the original will make people forget the prequels.
