STAR WARS Invades The TRUE DETECTIVE Season 1 Opening Credits

The second season of True Detective may have left many feeling disappointed, but there's no denying the brilliance of HBO's first batch of episodes - and its opening credits in particular were a thing of beauty. But hey, there's always room for improvement!

True Detective season 2 certainly went out with a... well, it went out this past Sunday night anyway. This season did have its share of fans of course, but I don't think anyone would deny that it failed to match up to Rust and Marty's adventures in pretty much every way.

One of the best-loved aspects of that first season was its stunning opening credits which were set to The Handsome Family's "Far From Any Road", and Star Wars Minute has made them even better by adding a bit of the 'ol galaxy far, far away to the mix.

Are you looking forward to the inevitable season 3? Or did 2 kill any enthusiasm you may have had? If they team Boba Fett and Chewie together, I'm there.

@Jollem

It wasn't that there was too much story it was because a lot of it was too over complicated, connections with characters off screen and such.

A lot of the story was told in boring simple dialogue sequences standing in a room.. There was just nothing 'special' about the season like there was the first... It was good, good performances by all cast members. It just wasn't the first season. Not great..

@Jollem

Which i see as a very good thing, i love that its set in different locations with cast members. It's literally as simple as season 2 was just complicated and had sort of less of a strong main storyline, as well as 6 or so more additional small stories. My whole family had no idea what was going on half the time...

Still thought it was good though haha

There wasn't too much story, there was too much silliness. Vince Vaughn's dialogue alone was some of the most eye rolling shit I've ever heard.

"It's like blue balls... but of the heart"

Plus, it just wasn't as engaging on any level as season 1. Performances were good, writing not so much.

@Jollem That's the cruel reality, people is just too dumb. Season 2 has a lot of plot points and background, to set up the season finale, which is one of the best [frick]ing episodes I've ever seen. The acting is actually really good, don't listen to the haters.

True Detective S2... I'm not sure what to make of it. I still haven't seen the finale, so I guess I can't really pass any final judgement, but damn, so far I'm not a fan. Yes, there was a lot of story, and if you wanted you could follow it without bigger difficulties. But sadly I never found it interesting enough to truly bother.

Neither the story nor the characters were anywhere near as engaging as in S1 (which I already didn't like as much some others), the dialogue was very mixed, there just wasn't anything that really kept me hooked.

It will be interesting to see what they'll do with a potential S3.

It has nothing to do with not being able to follow the story, it was that the story just wasn't very interesting. They thought they were making it layered and complicated by throwing a lot of names and unnecessary scenarios at the viewer, but at the end of the day they could have told the story of season 2 in about 4 episodes. The rest was needless filler.

Is anyone surprised that Jollem found a way to bash Marvel Studios in a True Detective article? He probably has a sad life in the real world. Poor guy.

the were few problems with True Detective S2. One was the story - or should i say lack of it untill like fourth episode arrived. There was two main plot points - the murder of Ben Casper and railroad corridor. I was looking for the clues but they were focusing more on characters. After fourth or five episodes the story started to move forward and you could finally start to connect the dots. There were many expositions (i think that is the word for that kind of thing) but I didn't mind, really. Mostly because the story was starting to get a little heavy. I guess that's what you get when you try to make the story work after the fourth episode when there are only 8 episodes of the season.
In other words: they should focus on the plot earlier.

Just finished Season One of True Detective.

Honestly, it might be the single greatest season of anything brought to TV.

I may do a review of it here on CBM, but spoiler alert, it's getting a 10/10.

Season 2 is getting way too much hate. What's even more annoying is the mindless Vince Vaughn hate despite him being fantastic throughout the season.

The problem isn't that people are too stupid but that True Detective is. I really don't get what its biggest fans find so profound about a derivative detective drama whose best lines were cribbed from a Thomas Ligotti book.

Season two was a mess with contrived storylines, awkward dialogue, and convoluted plot. I watched this season out to give the show a chance but it wasn't good.

I totally understand that. I didn't like how Vaughn's co-star was hating on him right there on the show as they were filming.

How unprofessional. She should go have a beer with Josh "I'll tweet all my feelings then delete them" Trank.

I liked Vaughn in True Detective. He was solid (also it was nice to see him in this type of role). The problem was that in the beginning his character was this nice-guy, soft type of gangster that everybody was trying to steal from. Some dialogues didn't help him build the role either. He was stuck with badly written Frank character for like 3 episodes. I think he was off (dare i say even in the terms of acting ). Or maybe his character was just so soft he became boring. After the fourth episode (i think it was fourth or maybe five) Vaughn character (and Vaughn himself) finally started to shine. He was trying to be a big boss again. He wasn't [frick]ing around anymore. Last episode was probably the best Vaughn episode.

For me, I agree with @Gustache, Season 1 may be the greatest season of any TV show. So it's an easy 10/10.
Season 2 was a little more difficult for me to grade. Velcoro stood out as the season's best character, and Colin Farrell did some great acting. Bezzerides was the character that I seemed to care for the most after Velcoro. Semyon was a really cool character as well. There were sometimes that I felt like Pizzolato was trying way too hard with his dialogue, also his story seemed so separated from the detectives, that I wasn't really rooting for him until the final three episodes. Woodrough may have been the character that I cared for the least. Kitsch wasn't exactly spectacular in the role. Although by the end he may have ended up being our *SPOILER* tragic hero, with his tragic flaw being that he couldn't come to terms with who he was. Always running from something. That's what his need to be on the motorcycle symbolized. *SPOILER* All in all the season wasn't really good until the later half. So I would grade it 8/10.

Season 1 was amazing. This season, I thought the acting was pretty damn good, but the whole flow of the story just didnt grab me. I was checking out here and there, so I lost a lot of which side character was which because they didn't have hardly any screen time, but were named quite a bit.
That being said, once I got past the convoluted yet seen-before plot of corruption and land deals, the finale was a greaaaaaaattttt episode. Loved it.

Vince Vaughn should go back to his serious roots because these roles are a lot better than his lazy, snarky, stupid RomCom/Bromance roles.
