It looks like we might just have our young Han Solo. According to Page Six, Alden Ehrenreich has landed the coveted role, and will likley make his debut via a cameo appearance in Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The story has since been picked up by several other sites, but - crucially - has yet to be confirmed by any of the trades.

The Han Solo origin film will focus on the early life of the iconic space smuggler before the events of A New Hope, and will also feature an appearance from everyone's favorite walking carpet, Chewbacca.

The LEGO Movie duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will helm the Star Wars spinnoff, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2018.

UPDATE: Deadline has confirmed the news.

He's a fantastic actor! I'm happy for the guy and can't wait to see what Lord and Miller bring to Star Wars.

@Kr08 - I have no problem at with this guy playing Han but he kinda looks older than Han did in the first star wars

It's not about looking like Ford or acting like Ford. It's about how well he can play Han Solo, and I'm pretty sure Ehrenreich can do that.

@Kr08 - He steals the show in HAIL, CAESAR! Hard work to be the standout opposite Clooney, Brolin, Swinton, Tatum, my girl ScarJo, etc.

@Reasonnnn - I remember back when he was on the first season of Supernatural and I enjoyed Beautiful Creatures.

You're right, he killed it and showed that you don't have to have the biggest name to be the best actor in a film. I wouldn't really put Scarjo and Tatum as much of a challenge, but they're good actors nonetheless.

@Kr08 - Haha don't you dare disrespect the Tatum! But yeah, in the film he was literally in a spaghetti western in the film haha. God the Coens are brilliant.

It seemed like they were going to announce who was playing Han at Star Wars Celebration, but my guess is that they're going to reveal some images of Ehrenreich with Chewie and some concept art.

I look foward to this Solo solo flick, I have full confidence that Lord and Miller will deliver a solid and fun action film.

"HE DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HARRISON FORD!"

And James McAvoy doesn't look like Patrick Stewart. What does this have to do with the performance?

For those who think this is a bad idea, remember that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are behind this. These are the same guys who took stupid ideas like "turn Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street into movies" and made them great. Remember when everyone was like "A movie about Legos? Boy, what a cynical and uncreative cashgrab of an idea".
