Simu Liu is set to get his big break with Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but the actor has found himself under scrutiny for a questionable use of social media.
When Mark Wahlberg transitioned into acting from a rapping career as Marky Mark in the 1990s, it was revealed that, as a teenager, he had allegedly been involved in at least four attacks which were motivated by the race of the victims. At seventeen, the Transformers: The Last Knight star was faced with an attempted murder charge after being accused of beating a Vietnamese man.
He only served 45 days of a two-year sentence, and much has been said in the years since about Wahlberg's failure to acknowledge what are perceived to have been hate crimes.
Many celebrities have called him out, and Liu was among them in 2018. However, after recently signing up to star alongside Wahlberg in Arthur the King (which the actor also produces), it was noticed that the Shang-Chi lead had deleted his Tweets criticzing his co-star's past actions.
Liu has since taken to Instagram to defend his actions, and we'll leave it up to you to decide whether he's in the right when it comes to how he decided to approach the situation.
