SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Star Tom Holland Recalls Having To Drink Coffee Through Eye Of His Spidey Mask

Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has looked back on the unique experience of having to drink coffee through the eye of his Spider-Man mask while working on the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios movie.

Visual effects have advanced to the point where the Spider-Man costume can now be brought to life on screen without a physical suit. The Iron Spider, for example, is fully CG, meaning star Tom Holland only has to don motion-capture gear in order to leap into action as the web-slinger.

Recently, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star appeared on BBC's The Graham Norton Show and told the host the lengths he had to go to in order to have a drink while he is suited up in Spidey's iconic costume.

"[With the suit on, I can eat] some things," Holland explained (via Screen Rant). "Essentially they put - so the eyes pop out...and there used to be these fans. I remember them bragging about they added in these fans that you could click and it would supposedly cool me down. They worked once. I have these hot batteries in my helmet that I put my head on."

"But there’s a hole underneath the eye socket where we used to be able to feed a tube down and I could drink without taking the suit off," he added, "because it takes a lot of time."

It's no wonder Holland is looking to potentially take some time off from playing Spider-Man as it's clearly not an easy job! He's also been suiting up as the iconic Marvel superhero since 2015, though we're sure the door isn't going to be permanently closed on him playing the MCU's Peter Parker (after all, we recently learned that another trilogy of Spider-Man movies is on the way).

Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives in U.S. on December 17 and in the UK on December 15.

@UXASIS - No sign of the serpent of paradise, good good. Guessing Mother is going to be hiding her special abilities since she's armed to the teeth throughout that trailer.
Last season was very messy with some wild degrees in quality during episodes and between episodes, honestly not sure if I'll check this one out.

Wow. Bet with all that Tom is more p!ssed than we are that they keep covering the suit with cgi. Dudes gotta go through all this and the actual suit is barely in the movies.

If we're being honest, all of Holland's suit have been fully CGI, practical suit worn on set or not

@DoubleD - Spider-Man is a monster but Omicron is a Transformer and there will be more shutdowns unfortunately. Hey I wanna see that billion! My guess if it breaks a bill, it will be in the 1.0 category, of which the MCU has none I think, nor does it have any in the 900 millions. So I’ll say, either of those.

@TheWalkingCuban - Omicron now 70% of America is fully vaccinated have been living and going to theaters without mask including me.

The Unvaccinated think the Pandemic is fake so they been living too and ignoring all the mandates from day one. Been protesting to open everything up from day one.

@DoubleD - i was thinking more of other countries, particularly European. Me personally, I’ve had covid, xrayed lots of people that later died of Covid, have heard stories firsthand from nurses of human clogged hospitals, and I got the vaccine, and my sister and ex wife have too and both have been worse off since the vaccine than they were with covid… so I believe both sides. I believe covid is deadly, and I believe the vaccine can be (they say a side effect is weak heart walls and my dad got the vaccine and died of a heart attack, so I’m inclined to believe that too)… but to return to the subject at hand:

I think Europe may take a hard line approach again. I don’t see the US shutting down unless the hospitals get clogged again. That was real and it can be again but barring that, I think we’ll be fine for theaters stateside.

@DoubleD - I’m gonna say highest domestic and worldwide grosser, tho it won’t top the single territory record China has set. 800 plus mill for a couple of those movies! Black Panther 2 COULD have… What If…?
DoubleD
DoubleD - 12/5/2021, 11:29 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - My older brother has been telling me Coronavirus and especially the Omicron is fake, and Government wants to control our lives. I have a lot of friends and family think the same way as my brother.

Only reason he and a lot of people followed the mandates was because they were forced too.
StSteven
StSteven - 12/5/2021, 11:43 AM
@TheWalkingCuban - Whoa whoa whoa, hold it right there buddy. As one of the biggest (self-professed) Transformers fans on this site, I feel it's my civic duty to correct you there. OMICRON is a potential scourge to life as we know it and may very well be the "Chaos Bringer". UNICRON is a potential Scourge (also a TF and herald of Unicron) to life as we know it and may very well be the "Chaos Bringer" who has a $600 toy (which I may own). Big difference there. It's all about marketability. However, ironically enough, I've heard that they will be using old recordings of Orson Wells to voice COVID-19 in "Coronavirus: The Movie", so I guess that they're not so dissimilar. Either way, as long as they have Stan Bush and Vince DiCola doing the soundtrack I'm set :)

TheWalkingCuban - 12/5/2021, 12:09 PM
@DoubleD - I don’t trust that variants make the difference that is stated, since you can get tested for the virus but it never says which variant you have. Besides I know governments, news, and joy behar love perpetuating fear and loathing a la George Orwell’s 1984, oh and communist china’s 100 year celebration marked by war movies perpetuating those things as well. It’s just a thing people in power do, it’s not even a conspiracy it’s common sense. And I felt forced too. If I wanted to keep making money xraying, I’d have to get the vaccine. I did. It wasn’t against my will. I chose money to feed my kids the weeks they’re with me and not with my ex wife. Gun to your head? You can still choose the bullet. That particular bullet affected my kids so, Agent Orange, please. In effect, THEY won. Nevertheless I’m not gonna be bitter about it. I makes money
