A lot of people thought that Marc Webb just put that just threw the scene in the movie just to have a post-credits scene, hwoever, I'm pretty sure he, or other people involved in the film, aren't that stupid.

But here's where i think that, that scene could tie into "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". Because they already knew what the second movie was going to be about before they even finished filming the first movie. If you remember, in 2011 the writers were confirmed for TASM 2 and it was also confirmed that the script was already started, and was being written.

And this year (2013) confirming there will, TASM3, TASM4.

THAT SAID - Marc Webb, who would be soon directing TASM 2 Would obviously already know what TASM 2 was about, who was in it and what the goal was. Coming from someone who studies film (me) the writers know everything that's going to happen, even when its not finished yet! So Marc Webb probably thought they would tease what is to come for the future in a little couple minute scene, He didn't confirm who the guy was talking to Dr. Curt Connors, but after some other stuff, I'm pretty sure we all know who it is.

Norman Osborn in the comics was known (sometimes known) for wearing a Fedora and Trench-Coat, like shown in the picture (of the post-credits scene) So that alone pretty much tells us it's Norman Osborn (but that's obviously not confirmed) Also, the hands were old looking, the voice is sick sounding and old, And if you saw the leaked trailer for TASM 2, Norman Osborn has the same similar voice, and is sick lying in bed. When Chris Cooper was cast as Norman Osborn a lot of Fans said,

"He's pretty old, but besides that.. sweet!"

Well, in that post-credits scene.. i don't know about you, but the guy sure did seem pretty old. haha, although its not the same actor of the Post-Credits scene and Chris Cooper who is playing Norman Osborn, doesn't mean its not Norman, after all, did you see Sherlock Holmes? (I'm referring to Professor Moriarty in the first film, and then the second who are different actors)

In that same scene, right after saying "We'll let him be for now" in a way sounds like he's referring to the Sinister Six, It could be OSCORP.. but i kind of doubt that, Right after that, he vanishes with the lightening strike.. NOW THIS IS WHERE I START.

So say when "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" comes out, and the whole movie they never hint at the post-credits scene in the first Spider-Man, until the end when you think Electro is dead, Also like Marc Webb said something like this,

"Lightening never dies, it just goes away for a while"

That's not the words he said, but that's what he meant. So what i think is maybe at the end of the film, Norman Osborn will sort of become Green Goblin, not saying they will show the suit, but he already has the serum in him maybe?, Then he will go to Dr. Curt Connor's prison cell with Electro, (Electro teams up with Norman Osborn because he has nowhere to go, or wants payback on Spider-Man)

And maybe is they do this scene again, i don't think it will be the same, i think it will have the same parts but they will add, and takeaway to make it, make more sense with the way the Film is going. EITHER THAT, or it will be the Introduction into the 3rd or 4th?

REGARDLESS - I think this will happen, I'm not telling you it is going to happen in the second film, I AM, saying i think this will happen before the Sinister Six comes into the films.

SO I AM PRETTY MUCH SAYING, I think that scene will later on make sense, they might have done it a bit early, but i do think its about the Sinister Six.

Electro vanishes with Norman Osborn.. And at the end of this article and if you didn't completely hate it, all i got to say now is, its pretty obvious and this has probably been written all before, but i do think its true and who else could/would it be besides Norman Osborn? other than that, nothing is confirmed.. its just my thoughts! But we shall see right?

I think the guy who who was played "the guy in the trenchcoat" was confirmed to be in TASM2.

Michael Massee was the actor who played the "Man in the Shadows" from TASM1. In the leaked trailer for TASM2, there is a character who resembles the Man in the Shadows, trenchcoat and fedora who is definitely not Osborn. And Webb even said at the release of the first movie that the character Massee was playing wasn't Osborn. Personally, I feel like he could be Spencer Smythe. I mean, Smythe WAS even mentioned on the TASM2 website.

If there are countless articles contemplating about what the scene is then it did it's job. If you can't understand the point of the scene then you are probably not a fan of Breaking Bad because that show did a ton of what TASM post credit scene.

@superherofan21 is correct. I recognized him from his voice, but it's actually really easy to confirm his credit for the role.

Some people are annoying with worrying about the after credit scenes and how they tie in. Just give sony the benefit of the doubt and wait until the sequel to see how it fits in the story. At the end Avengers most people didn't know that was the person was Thanos but they still were excited for the scene. But when spider-man adds a little mystery you all lose your shit.

I like the Smythe idea! That'd be freakin' awesome. I thought it was maybe, Professor Warren, AKA, the Jackal.

This was the lamest post-credit scene ever along with the Green Lantern one.

Also, is everyone forgetting that the "did you tell the boy about his father" part of that scene was used in the trailers and the TV spots ?

How lame is that ?

Am I the only one who remembers what Marc Webb and Rhys Ifans said? They said that the guy in the After-credits scene was NOT Norman Osborn, and that he was someone WHO WORKED FOR NORMAN. And when the guy at comic-con asked Marc who the man in the shadows was Marc replied with "Think about the gentlemen" Now the gentlemen is a character in the spiderman universe who made his own SINISTER SIX... interesting huh?

I'm thinking its the Gentleman, from the Sinister Six novels. Given that they're talking more and more about leading up to that, that's the best guess I can give.

Actually Webb gave the hint " The Gentleman" who first appeared in a novel in 1999 "The Gathering of the Sinister Six". He has tons of money and brings the 6 together after having issues with Peter's parents.
