Andrew Garfield On Rumored SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Return; "No Matter What I Say, I'm F*cked"

The Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has addressed his rumored return for Spider-Man: No Way Home, once again denying his involvement. Is he simply trying to avoid those Marvel snipers?

At this point, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's return as their respective takes on Spider-Man for No Way Home seems like the worst kept secret in Hollywood. But despite multiple reliable reports and even a set photo or two, Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures are still attempting to keep their involvement under wraps.

This obviously puts the actors in a very awkward position when they're asked about it during interviews, and while Maguire has mostly managed to avoid these situations, Garfield continues to be bombarded with Spidey-related questions while doing the rounds to promote his new film, The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

The subject came up again during a Variety profile, with the trade stating that Garfield "goes red-faced and laughs it off when asked about unconfirmed reports."

“I understand why people are freaking out about the concept of that because I’m a fan as well. You can’t help but imagine scenes and moments of ‘Oh, my God, how [frick]ing cool would it be if they did that?’” he says. “But it’s important for me to say on the record that this is not something I’m aware I am involved in. But I know I’m not going to be able to say anything that will convince anyone that I don’t know what’s happening. No matter what I say, I’m f*cked. It’s either going to be really disappointing for people or it’s going to be really exciting.”

Hey, maybe he's really not in the movie! We're probably not going to know for sure either way until Sony/Marvel decides to make it official, which might just happen when the next trailer is released.

@Frshcoupe - Its like trying to say "No" to something and fans won't accept "No" or won't let you. If the movie comes out and he's really not in it, they are going to blame him for not being in it too.

Can't win either way.

I’d say it’s a little too soon to have another “portals” moment like endgame where Andrew and tobey show up to help save the day. That said, there are elements from both of their respective films that are in this, variants or not. How could they not be somewhat involved?

@thelastson18 - its probably now or never. They arent getting any younger and we are at the time when the multiverse is being explored across all the MCU. Id say its the perfect time to do it.

@DarkDetective - fair enough, I thought I heard somewhere they filmed this and spidey 4 back to back so I figured the big reveal wouldn’t happen until the next movie. But you’re right, we are at the entrance to the multiverse with this, what if, Loki and doctor strange. I’m all for them coming back!

I believe him. I also think we will have only ONE Spider-Man in this movie.
