In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.
If all the rumors are to be believed, Spider-Man 3 might have an even bigger cast than Avengers: Endgame. Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), and Jamie Foxx (Electro) have been confirmed by the trades, while reliable sources point to Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man), Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man), and several others appearing.
That's a lot of characters for one film, but what if we're actually getting two?
There are rumors circulating on social media that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are, in fact, shooting two films back-to-back, and occasional scooper Caleb Williams added fuel to the flames with the Tweet below.
It's impossible to judge the validity of this rumor, but an epic, two-part Multiverse film sounds like it could be something special. Sony is likely to be accutely aware of COVID impacting productions, and with director Jon Watts moving on to Fantastic Four, the studio would surely be happy having two Spider-Man films ready to release once theaters re-open and ticket buyers are hungry for blockbusters.
Don't get your hopes up, but keep checking back here for the latest on this one.
