The recent announcement that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron) will play Kraven the Hunter in Sony's planned Spider-Man spinoff led to speculation that the character could make his debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home as part of the Sinister Six, and while it doesn't sound like that's on the cards, we do have some intriguing new details on the characters who are expected to fill-out the ranks of the villainous team.
On the latest episode of the Sneider Cut podcast, Jeff Sneider reports on what he's heard about the upcoming Spidey threequel, and it sounds like Willem Dafoe's Norman Osborn/Green Goblin is indeed set to return to lead the Sinister Six. Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) have already been confirmed, and Sneider reckons they'll be joined by Sandman, Rhino and Lizard.
There's no word on Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3), Paul Giamatti (TASM 2) and Rhys Ifans (TASM) signing on to reprise their respective roles, but it's possible Sony was able to keep their casting under the radar. While these characters are all staples of the supervillain team in the comics, they'd likely still be seen as surprising additions since their big-screen counterparts weren't particularly well-received. Then again, neither was Electro!
Sneider adds that the "No Way Home" sub-title doesn't refer to Peter Parker (Tom Holland) at all, but to the villains who all become trapped in his reality from different corners of the Spider-Verse.
While Sneider's sources are no-doubt reliable, it's obviously best to treat this as a rumor for the time being. Assuming these details are on the level, though, how would you feel if this was the incarnation of the Sinister Six we saw assemble in No Way Home?
