TASM 2: Dane DeHaan Discusses His Unhappy Harry Osborn

The actor recently revealed the very first official glimpse of his character from The Amazing Spider-Man sequel, and now he chats to EW about what we can expect from his Harry Osborn. It seems we might be in for a more brooding take than the last one anyway..

DeHaan has been quite happy to chat about his upcoming role as Peter Parker's pal Harry Osborn in Marc Webb's currently shooting sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man on several occasions, though he's always careful not to give too much away. In his latest interview that continues -- though he does reveal a few vague new details. “It’s certainly going be my version,” he tells the site when quizzed about the character. "Ultimately my job is to portray a living, breathing human being and to act truthfully under imaginary circumstances. Sometimes you know that involves terrorizing an entire city, sometimes that involves getting intimate with Michael C. Hall [Kill Your Darlings], and sometimes that involves playing a billionaire scion." There have been rumors that it will actually be harry and not his father Norman suiting up as The Green Goblin in this movie, and although DeHann obviously doesn't discuss that, he does suggest that this version of Osborn Jr. might be a little more troubled than the previous incarnation of the character (played by James Franco) right from the get-go. “Everybody has their own set of circumstances and problems, and I think you know Harry Osborn certainly got a list of problems. Just because he goes home and sleeps in his penthouse at night and has a ton of money doesn’t mean he’s a happy person.”

He will probably be trying to win over his father affection like Harry always does, and his father will use him to get inside info on Pete since it's obvious Norman already knows he's Spider-Man. He will probably screw Peter over or something. I'm also guessing he's somewhat of an outcast, since, you know; not every is born into a billion dollar family and he probably gets shit for that.

Seems like every character is this movie is the actors version. Jamie Foxx in general. Still hoping for the best though. Think it has potential, just needs good direction.

TASM was kind of "Meh". It probably would've been great if it had come out a year or two earlier, but standards are just too high for that shit to fly these days. That being said, this sequel has a badass cast. In fact, one of the best casts around. That strength alone might give it a shot at the big leagues.

Gaikinger's got it right, no matter what you do - teenagers are whiny morons. Don't think you weren't when you were a kid, because you were.

Kick-Ass may not have been brooding, but goddamn did he get a whiny puberty voice.

What is so wrong about Foxx in that get up? People on here judge everything by its cover. They expect everything to look as epic as a flying man in skin tight or robotic suit.

This is something else boys.

Bale, Cavill, Hemsworth, Ruffalo, and Evans all inhabit their roles to me perfectly.

RDJ is barely there for me. Bale, Cavill, Hemsworth, Ruffalo and Evans actually work to be their heroes.
