BOX OFFICE: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Finally Reaches $700 Million Worldwide

It's taken quite some time, but The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has finally reached $700 million worldwide. However, X-Men: Days of Future Past has topped it domestically, making it the first X-Men movie to outgross one starring Spider-Man! Read on for details...

With over $500 million from overseas, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has finally managed to hit the $700 million mark at the worldwide box office. It's has yet to top Captain America: The Winter Soldier (which has $710 million as of right now), while the fact that X-Men: Days of Future Past is closing in on $200 million in North America means that it has topped the Marc Webb helmed sequel to be the #1 summer movie. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will actually end up being the lowest grossing of the five films in the franchise domestically, but Sony must at least be reasonably happy with its overseas performances as it is second behind only Spider-Man 3's total of $554 million. It was recently rumoured that The Amazing Spider-Man 3 has been pushed back to 2017, and you can read more details on that by clicking here. How many times have you suffered through the movie?

This film blew all kinds of ass. You walk into it expecting a good CBM, you leave it feeling like you were pile-drived by the Rock.

it deserved to flop but whatever.

Damn I bet it won't even outgross the first ASM film. That's got to be somewhat viewed as a failure in my opinion, especially when mixed with the critical reaction and the fact that it's the lowest domestic ever.

Good for Spidey... and Emma Stone! I didn't care much for the movie itself, but I'm happy for Emma that this movie is doing kind of well. :)

I know I'm one of the few, but I really liked TASM 2. I have one main issue with it that I will probably add in an editorial I'm planning but I have to say, it is the only movie that had me gobsmacked and kind of emotional. I don't give AF about the box office tbh.

How unfortunate. Films that bad shouldn't make so much money.

If Cap 2 was released anytime in the summer, it would not have done as well as it did.

Marvel was very smart with the April release date. Nothing good came out weeks after Cap 2 and people kept on going to see it.

So yeah, the Cap 2 box office is definitely not surprising in the least, but of course people will attack TASM 2 and DOFP with statements like "people care more about Cap than Spider-Man or X-Men!"

TWS IMO was the best out of the CBM's this year followed closely by DOFP then way way way behind is ASM2.

And it didn't take quite some time since it hasn't even been out quite some time yet. So a lot of socalled comic fans didn't like it,a lot of people actually did as well. But I guess there are just WAY too many superhero movies coming out these days. I don't even bother watching them all anymore. I pick and choose and see the heroes I like,Spidey is one of them. So Josh isn't a Spidey fan, plenty of people aren't. Plain and simple. But it's good to hear it hasn't actually failed,as some people want you to believe. Underperformed, sure, but that's not failure.

I liked it a lot, saw it 3 times. While not my favorite Spider-Man film I think it captures the perfect essence of a Spider-Man comic, over the top, tone shifting up the ass, great romance, amazing action, very human characters, and bright vibrant colors.

Jesus, say something good about Marvel's timing with Cap 2 release and people still attack you. Cap 2 deserves the success. It was a good movie. The first good one in Phase 2 so far in my opinion. I personally liked Days of Future Past more but to each their own. TASM 2 wasn't that good but it was decent enough and I definitely don't think its trash.
