A theory I once had on Paul Giamatti's character in TASM2 that is obvious incorrect at this point in time...

Considering the release of The Amazing Spiderman 2 is only a few months away, many of us have probably had theories on the film that have turned out to be untrue/debunked by the cast, crew, announcements and/or video footage. The following is one of my own regarding the Spiderman baddie known as The Rhino, portrayed in the film by Paul Giamatti.

For those who don't know, in the Ultimate Marvel Universe (which much of the elements of these films are derived), the Tinkerer is drawn to resemble Paul Giamatti. Usually I'd write something off like this as a coincidence, but after the reveal of The RHINO armour, a theory came to mind.

For those of you unfamiliar with The Tinkerer (Ultimate Universe), his real name is Elijah Stern. Stern was a scientist and a genius who worked for the Roxxon Corporation until he was fired. After that he became The Tinkerer. The Tinkerer is an expert in mechanics and robotics. The Tinkerer's MO is to create, disassemble and repair mechanical items. He is the inventor of the Ultimate Universe equivalent of The Spider Slayers and has helped The Sinister Six out in many ways, such as repairing The Beetles armour and upgrading The Vultures costume. He was eventually killed by the Prowler. By request of Brian Michael Bendis, Stern was drawn to resemble actor Paul Giamatti.

So what was my theory? After seeing The Rhino's mech suit, The Goblins armour and Electro's containment suit, an idea popped in my head that The Rhino might actually be Elijah Stern. Not to mention in the original "Electro Arrives At Comic Con" footage, Electro says "No matter what you do, DOCK, you can't contain me." Of course this theory of a possible plot twist is ridiculous, especially now that we know that Alistair Smythe is in the movie.

Thoughts? Have you ever had a ridiculous theory on this film? Comment below. Also, on a side note, the premier of Season Two of NBC's Hannibal airs tomorrow so don't forget to check out my weekly reviews of that show after each episode airs.

Welcome, I am Darkknight2149. I am primarily a fan of comic books and their various adaptations, as well as horror and other classic film franchises.

As far as the "DC vs. Marvel" rivalry goes, I'm really not biased when it comes to studios and publishers. Preferences are fine, but I've never understood the basing of opinions purely by the studio/publisher that makes it.
