Talking to Digital Spy, Willem Dafoe has finally shared his thoughts on The Amazing Spider-Man; the upcoming reboot from director Marc Webb. The actor has seemingly been a little reluctant to discuss the movie when asked about it during the John Carter press tour, and his response here may just explain why.

"It's funny, I really enjoyed working on Spider-Man, but when I was finished with it, it really kind of completed something for me. Maybe. I don't really have an opinion one way or another to tell you the truth."

"I think Spider-Man is probably the most widely seen movie I've ever done. But then there's other movies - It really depends on their age. It's interesting, you can tell from someone's background usually. What is the period they go to see movies and what kind of movies they see. How they see you is clearly a reflection of the kind of movies they see!"

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy
Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard
Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben
Sally Fields as Aunt May
Denis Leary as George Stacy

RELEASE DATE: July 3rd, 2012.

Fair enough. How many times to you return to a school or job youve left? Me? never.

Sounds like he's not too happy that he's remembered as the Green Goblin. I'm sure he'd rather people remember him for The Last Temptation of Christ or Mississippi Burning or Antichrist than Spider-Man. That's just the feel I'm getting from his comments.

What a superb varied actor Dafoe is. It's just a shame he never got to play the Joker as i think he would have gone to town with it. mind you I supose we'll never see Harvey Keitel Play Wolverine now either.

Dafoe was perfectly cast as Green Goblin :) Fair enough if he doesn't care, as long as he isn't doing a Mickey Rourke and slagging Marvel off every interview.

Dafoe was cool as Osborn, but if they are going to get The Green Goblin for a sequel. I say reboot with someone really twisted

I still believe Michael C Hall would make an excellent Osborn and Goblin. IMO he fits in well with the cast and feel of The Amazing Spider-Man.

I usually think Platoon and The Boondock Saints when I think of Dafoe.

Great actor. Too bad he was covered in that power ranger mask for his goblin scenes. I've seen the screen test make up that was used and it was much better. Either way he was still awesome.

@StrangerX MCH would be spot on. He has a sinister look and he's a fine actor.

When I think of Dafoe, I think of Platoon, Boondock Saints, Mississippi Burning, Clear and Present Danger, Inside Man, THEN Spider-Man.

Cool but is it so hard to just say you look forward to seeing it? Sounds bitter that everyone just forgot about "that other" movie.

How pleasantly honest.. I like that Dafoe. How many people do you know that can "[frick] that movie" and make it sound perfectly delightful, and alright?

I think they rebooted the franchise way to early. They should waited 5 more years.

I thought he did a great job as Green Goblin. He has had an impressive career.

Excluding Speed 2, of course. I would like to see him play a James Bond villain, which he actually has in the Everything or Nothing video game.

He's not talking any trash, just being honest about how he feels. That's fine by me. I don't expect the guy to care that much about Spider-man just because he acted in 2 of the movies. His role in the second film was filmed almost a decade ago at this point. I still think he did the best job playing a Spider-man villain yet, and also one of the best comic book movie villains I've seen.

@BigBMH: Agreed. Well said. - -I still see the Goblin when I look at him.
