THE SUICIDE SQUAD: Task Force X Is "Dying To Save The World" On Cool New Posters For The Movie - UPDATED

The marketing campaign for The Suicide Squad is finally kicking off, and the first trailer for the movie lands later today. We don't know exactly when, but rest assured we'll have it for you the second it drops. In the meantime, a new poster has been released highlighting the members of Task Force X.

It's a colourful, wonderfully retro piece of imagery which highlights some of the core members of the team (Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag is front and centre, which is definitely nice to see). Surrounding him are Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), King Shark, Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), and Peacemaker (John Cena).

Character posters are also being released - Peacemaker and Viola Davis' Amanda Waller are the only ones we have as we write this - and we'll keep updating this story as more arrive.

"Welcome to hell — a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A," reads the synopsis. "Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese."

"Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and- destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave...and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them."

The Suicide Squad will be released in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th, 2021.

Well these posters make it a whole bunch easier to narrow down whose dying. Though I have a feeling the trailer will show some spoilers on that matter anyhow.

The white doves on the second poster are the most John Woo thing I'll see today. I like it, just like the very colorful first poster.

Even though Suicide Squad was bad, I find it interesting they seem to have changed the tone. While Suicide Squad 2016 was mostly serious, this seems to be more like a Deadpool style comedy.

All the posters are John Woo-esque, and the rats on Ratcatcher's are kind of cute. Like they'll break into a song about dress making any moment.
