One thing is for sure this guy is really working hard on embodying a true and faithful Superman!

"Oh, yes, I’ve done my research. I stocked up on source material and buried my head in it for a while …. I didn’t see a lot of comic books growing up. At boarding school there wasn’t much time for much of anything except education. Up until I was 13 [before I arrived at Stowe School] it wasn’t so bad, but at boarding school you are there and there’s a small village nearby but you are not getting to stop by a shop on the way home to buy a book. I mean, you might get a chance to watch a little TV at some stage of the day but otherwise you’re in class, studying, eating, playing sports or sleeping.
I didn’t get a chance to indulge in comics as a kid, which I’m actually quite happy about because as an adult I get to read the best of it. I can pick up a whole series and read them in one go, too, I don’t have to wait a week or a month for the next issue to come out. It’s like watching a box set of a TV show, you can go nonstop. I like sitting there and diving in until I’m brain dead. And I do enjoy them; as an adult I have retained my sense of wonder and love of stories and fantasy world. I really liked “Death of Superman” and “Return of Superman,” those are my favorite ones, and “The New 52” is great stuff and “Earth One,” although I know people think that is a mixed bag. With “Red Son,” I thought it was interesting as a different perspective. It was out there and I like that. It was essential to my character research, too. When you’ve got two polar opposite viewpoints of the same character, you will see what the authors consider the important baseline trend. I got to see that and see the different ways he would have developed and that was very useful to me. And because we are retelling the story and we are doing our own reinvention and a modernization for the screen, I get the opportunity to add my own interpretation of how he developed. So that was cool to look at “Red Son” and see what changed, what didn’t change and what that reveals about the baseline of Superman. You can find what is essential to Superman and what is nature vs. nurture by locating that baseline."

Clark Kent is a journalist in his twenties who was adopted as a child by Martha and Jonathan Kent when he was transported to Earth from the alien planet Krypton. Kent, raised with the values of his adoptive parents, feels alienated because of his unique super abilities and struggles to find his place in life. When the world is attacked, he becomes the hero Superman to protect its people.

Man Of Steel is scheduled to hit cinemas June 14th, 2013.

@MalcomReynolds It's still a very different interview than we've ever gotten, he told us in this interview about specific comics. I don't remember reading/hearing this interview before...

@The Question
Because in Red Son,for a large part of the story Supes retains his heart despite his differing enviroment.In fact the changes highlight even more the core of his character.A decent guy who cares.I know it all goes a little wrong in the book,but I believe that's why Cavill read it and what he was looking for in it.Just that emotional centre of the character that doesn't change :)

I don't think you will see any direct reference to Red Son in the movie.It was research,not prep for a scene.

0TheQuestion0: "why would he read 'red son' the russian superman based in russia when clearly he's playing an american superman based in america..."

Henry Cavill: "It was essential to my character research, too. When you’ve got two polar opposite viewpoints of the same character, you will see what the authors consider the important baseline trend. I got to see that and see the different ways he would have developed and that was very useful to me."

He said something similar in a comic con interview about red son, he never said anything bout the death and return before....

Regardless, from a physical standpoint he was my choice for Superman since i heard they were rebooting. But the more i read and the more you hear this guy talk and just the research and effort he is putting into this, not to mention that he looks like he stepped off the comic page. I have no doubt that Henry will be to the newer generations as what Chris Reeve was to mine. I say this as Im getting ready to work out and have Superman 2 playing on my netflix lol.

MrEko- LOL Well, a man's gotta pay the bills. But i'll tell you one thing, i've never been this much sleep deprived in my entire life. And oddly enough, it's the very first time in my life where i actually plan on losing even more sleep in the next months to come. That game will be the death of me! LOL ;P

Red Son is one of my fav Elseworld stories. It's really not so much of Superman, but Batman that really stands out in the book.

I like that he took two opposing presentations of Superman to find the core of the character. Hopefully, it translates on the screen. I want this film to succeed!

@0Thequestion0

He explained. You didn't read. He wanted to see the baseline of the character that authors use in different interpretations. Looking at Mr. Cavils pic a lil too much......

Cast is good. Interpretation seems to be bad. And, Snyder...

I think we all want this film to succeed; DC NEEDS for this to kick major ass after all the hoopla. They have a lot riding on this. The dark suits don't need anymore Egg on their collective faces! 2013 is a long wait though....
TheTank
TheTank - 11/21/2011, 8:28 AM
I gotta admit the more i see the suit from the new flick, the more I get alittle down that they didn't just go all out and make the traditional design as beautiful and professional than its been done before.

I watched lois and clark the other day and despite alot of the flaws with that show and the fact that i never really bought dean cain as superman (His clark was amazing tho), his suit was beautiful, especially the cape, look at the pilot episode when hes pushing the shuttle into space and that heavy long cape with its beautiful Gold S, is flowing behind him...

Obviously Chris Reeve's suit was awesome as well, but Gerard Christopher wore a near identical suit (Save for the different "S") and did not have the same kind of presence. What these producers and studio execs dont understand is that its not the costume, but the way the person playing the character wears it. Chris Reeve wore simple spandex and you wouldn't dare mess with his Superman.

WB's standpoint on it is probably, "Well we gave you the comic costume in Superman Returns and everyone thought it looked ridiculous..."

AND CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO POST PICS ON HERE PLEASEE!!!
rbfn04
rbfn04 - 11/21/2011, 8:35 AM
@TheTank it gets to me too man. This suit is just badly designed. The lines, the colours, the bracelts... Not good.
