The folks over at Digital Spy have posted, via Twitter, Mark Millar's comments over the recent addition to the cast of Superman: Man of Steel

"Can I just say that Amy Adams as Lois is inspired casting? She's the best big-name actress of her generation and Lois SHOULD be in her thirties," he wrote.

"She's won a Pulitzer and kinda given up on guys by the time she meets Superman. She can't be a 25-year-old. She needs to be formidable and Donner got this when he cast 30-something Kidder opposite 24-year-old Reeve. It's why Kate Bosworth didn't work."

Superman: Man of Steel is expected to swoop in cinemas everywhere next year in December.

Kate Bosworth looked bored as Lois Lane.
She looked like a bright, wonderful person behind the cameras, but on the movie, she looked snobbish.

Am I not correct in thinking Margot Kidder is only 4 years older than Christopher Reeve and was in her 20s when cast as Lois Lane?

This dude isnt exactly right. Bosworth wasnt the best casting but she was the least of the problems of Superman Returns. Lois doesnt have to be in her 30s and even if so they decide to go with frickin Amy Adams??? Someone whose like 9 years younger than Ma Kent(Diana Lane) thats really makin my winky go numb...

Hopefully they just recast Lois in the sequel like they did Katie Holmes.

Mark, "the man" Millar just made a whole lot of sense concerning the movie interpretation of Superman. Hm, I don't necessarily agree with the Bosworth comment, as I feel her casting wasn't wrong, but rather the script Singer shitted out his ass. Still, Adams doesn't look her age, which is surprising as most Caucasians age badly. She is attractive and very talented. She has spunk and I feel the choice to cast her was a good move... so far.

I still think his three movie epic of Superman would have been a much better choice for DC, Zack is a good Director but if they combined Millars writing and style with Snyder's vision and creativity, then the films would make Marvel Movies try to up their game

Even in John Byrne's Man of Steel, Lois was older than Clark. I wholeheartedly agree with this casting choice.

Yeah, wtf does Millar know. I mean he only WRITES comics, how would he know anything about the characters or the best way to interpret them!!

Bosworth and Routh had absolutely no chemistry at all on screen. And it wasnt all Bosworth fault that the Lois charcter wasnt good...it was that horrible script. From Lex Luthors portrayal, to Superman’s illegitimate son and also making Superman a creepy peeping tom stalker….the movie all-around was a cluster F**k.

@ ComicCritic87: I read Millars idea for a 3 movie epic and and if its that same idea of ending the movie with Superman the last person on earth and lives until the Suns goes into super-nova...you follow a trilogy for it to end with such a downer...and dont like that idea at all. Now I do remember Millar saying he is going to adapt that very same story into a graphic novel, now that I will pick up...but to see it on the big screen...I dont think so.

Inspired... by wanting an awesome Lois Lane? By wanting some top shelf talent in this movie? I think it comes down to something simple like that. She's a credit to the movie in every way.

I wouldn't have thought of Adams, but still this is a helluva great move.

I have to agree with Millar on this. Lois Lane should be a little older, to have had the time to work her way up at the Daily Planet and to earn her reputation as a reporter. You want "realism" in comics, THAT is "realism" that I can believe in.

I agree that Lois should be older than Superman, or at least more worldly, & I think Amy Adams will be great. Though as my girlfriend pointed out Lois could just be more sophisticated than Clark because he is just a farm boy. At which point I thought "wow, the most powerful superhero ever described as just a farm boy - this girl really understands Superman, no wonder I love her!" And on top of that she's a red head like Adams. Yep, I'm a lucky guy - ok, I'll stop rambling now. Carry on, good people...

TGDSM: Lois will not die in these films because they are not being directed by Joss Whedon. If she cameo's in The Avengers she probably won't make it.

Lois is a Cougah!!! Yeah, Kate Bosworth was HORRIBLE. She treated Clark like shit on her shoe, treated her fiance like toilet paper (the guy saves her life, she's got him raising another man's kid, then flirts with leaving him for said 'other man').

Singer really, really BLEW that opportunity, then he made the movie SUCK.......wait for it......ba dum dump! *ptssh*

I was actually rooting for Jr. White, whatever his name was, Marsden's character - he was a great guy! no reason to not like him at all, so, not only was Clark a dead beat dad, but he was a stalker and a homewrecker! some hero.

I am amazed to see these guys still whining about the last Superman film which was still a lot better than the last two films with Christopher Reeves.

Superman's character will be determined by the person telling his story. And each story teller will have their own take on it. Nothing you say here will change that unless you start writing it yourself. I look forward to seeing how you let this character manifest himself.

I can only guess that the female dogging is coming from the same place as the Mark Millar hate because neither of these things has any bearing in reality does it?

I make my own animations so please don't accuse of decorating my comments with something I stole from google
