Matthew Vaughn's Idea For A SUPERMAN Movie Back In 2008 Would Have Been A "Big, Vast Fun Epic"

We still don't know whether or not Matthew Vaughn will direct Man of Steel 2 but it has been revealed that the director turned to comic book scribe Mark Millar for help coming up with a direction to take Superman in (you can find out why the Kingsman creator had to say no by clicking here). Well, Millar has now shed some light on Vaughn's original plan for the hero back when they first discussed the idea of a movie featuring the iconic hero back in 2008 (presumably when Kick-Ass was being made).
"It was actually a massive, uplifting, hopeful thing," he says of how the filmmaker's take on the character would differ to previous iterations. "There’s no point doing Superman unless you feel good. You should walk out of ‘Superman’ just feeling like a million dollars. You should feel great after a Superman film. The movie itself was going to be a big, vast fun epic. But 'Superman’s got to be a laugh, as well." That sounds ideal but nothing has been confirmed with Vaughn and Man of Steel 2.
Despite the fact he was sporting a pretty horrendous looking CGI jaw, Joss Whedon's take on Superman was definitely an improvement and felt a lot closer to what we're used to seeing in the comics.
Now, the baton will have to be passed to someone else to continue that with Henry Cavill and Vaughn feels like a pretty perfect fit. What do you guys think of the direction the X-Men: First Class helmer might be taking Superman in? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.
