SMALLVILLE: Major Season Finale Spoilers and Some Season 9 News!

Some Awesome news about the season finale and season 9 that you won't want to miss!

I read this article this morning on E! Online's Watch with Kristin column. The producers of Smallville had some very interesting things to say. Read for your self.

Smallville has taken a dark turn this season, especially with the introduction of Doomsday (Sam Witwer), who is the only DC villain able to kill Superman. That would seem like a rough break for Tom Welling, except that Clark Kent is not one of the two characters kicking the bucket in the season finale.

Fellow fan favorite Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), on the other hand, has been considered very much in the line of fire, especially since producers tell us next season's stories line up closely with the DC mythology—the same Superman mythology that does not include Chloe Sullivan.

However, there's hope on the horizon! Executive producers Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders tease some upcoming storylines for Chloe that could land her in the Watchtower next season, instead of a grave.

That's not the case for two other characters on Smallville who will be saying goodbye for good, and Brian teases there may actually be a third death. Plus, find out why Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark fans can expect to see in the finale...

Are Clark and Doomsday throwing down in the finale?

Brian Peterson: It's what everybody has probably been watching for the whole season. There will be a big throwdown between Doomsday and Clark.

Kelly Souders: Clark meets his match.

How does Chloe come between Clark and Davis?

K.S.: I think Chloe takes a very integral part in trying to keep the two fated nemeses apart from each other. It's hard; trouble just seems to find Clark Kent.

B.P.: We want the audience to ask the question, Is Chloe doing this because she's starting to fall for Davis, or is Chloe doing this because she's really protecting Clark? I think we walk that line pretty carefully, I hope.

Let's talk about the major death. Is it two people dying, or maybe one is just leaving the show?

K.S.: I will say it's Smallville, anything can happen, but I don't expect a dry eye in the house. It's not one of those things where someone just goes down and walks out of it the next minute, unfortunately. There's a lot of doom in Doomsday.

Many of the fans are worried that Chloe is dying since she is not apart of the Superman mythology.

K.S.: It's a scary future for Chloe Sullivan because you never know what's going to happen because of that exact fact.

B.P.: She has put herself in the middle of harm's way this year.

K.S.: All we can say is her tragic arc has a very tragic ending this year.

So it could be either Chloe or Davis dying?

B.P.: Well there are two deaths, it could be one or the other, or both.

K.S.: Both or someone else could be thrown in that mix.

B.P.: The other thing I will just say for the people who watch on a deeper level: There's a metaphorical death that happens on the show as well, so hopefully people can dig deep into their intellect and psyche and have fun with that.

K.S.: Actually all of [what happens] is in order to line up with the DC mythology, we'll throw that out there too. Obviously we created our own version of Doomsday on the show, but ultimately, everything we do in the finale is in order to line up with the DC mythology.

So Chloe may never really find love then?

K.S.: Chloe's love life is just one of the most doomed elements in television history. She has not had a lot of luck in love, and I'm afraid that in the finale, she doesn't get much luckier. Maybe someday, you never know. I'll just tease that.

Heard that! Chloe could be sticking around! How about Clark and Lois' love life?

K.S.: For Clark-Lois fans, I think they will be having many fits in the finale. We just watched part of it cut together, and I have to say there's one of the most quintessential Clark-Lois moments in the finale. It's so good. They have such great chemistry.

Is there anything in the finale that's really going to shock the fans?

B.P.: It's a pretty heavy season finale, but I think it will launch a really great season next year.

K.S.: You're definitely going to see the Justice League in a way you've never seen them before. Clark and Oliver's (Justin Hartley) relationship is going to really be pushed to the brink. I think it's going to be really shocking for the fans to see the season finale. Clark definitely emerges in a different place than he started the season in. [Next season] he has to overcome—he has to be Superman.

Just out of professional curiosity, does that mean we'll see Tom Welling in some spandex tights next year? I know the fans really want to see that.

B.P.: Probably not as soon as you expect, but you never know. The one person who doesn't want to see that unfortunately is Tom Welling, so that's a bigger conversation.

Has there been talk of other members of the Justice League crossing over in the finale or next season?

B.P.: We started what will hopefully be a new focus of the show that we'll be bringing in allies for Clark next year. We had a lot of DC villains this year and a lot of DC heroes, and we're hoping to continue that into next year. We teased a little piece of Chloe and her arc and how she might play a role in that next year.

OK, heard it again! "Next year!" She must survive! So as far as next season, will Clark be running around saving the rest of the world and not just Metropolis?

B.P.: Clark may have some significant obstacles in his destiny next year. It may be the darkness before the rise of Superman. He's going to face probably his darkest hour I would say. He really was on a trajectory this year, but he's made some decisions that put him down a different path.

K.S.: He's going to be paying the price for some rather large mistakes from the finale.

Let me hear what you guys think of this amazing news!

If they are really wanting to go with the DC continuity/JLA thing, they should put Martian Manhunter into the mix.

I should really watch the show more often, I do kinda like their Green Arrow. Good actor and characterization, but he needs to lose the crossbow.

Martian Manhunter is in there already bubbadude! If they are going full on Justice League then they need to bring in another of DCs big hitters. I know WW and Bats are off limits but there has to be another big name they can use. Because i think seeing the league formed by Kent, Arrow, Aquaman, impulse, Black Canary and [frick]ing Cyborg is a bit too much to accept

LastSon1027 - 4/24/2009, 8:46 AM
Well as far as Heavy Hitters go they have Shazam, Green Lantern and Hawkman but I don't know if I would call them true heavy hitters other than Lantern and I'm sure because of the movie they can't use him. Hawkman would be atrocious so Maybe they could bring in Billy Batson and do a Shazam episode. Not real sure about how that would work though.

Ambush Bug Really? HAHAHA I don't see that one happening since most people have no clue who he is although most people have no clue who Cyborg is unless they read comics. I would love to see Booster Gold! Hey SirPrize go check out the Mary Jane story I need your google mastery!

Good heh heh! Hope CHLOE gets it! Never liked her since the start, never will, its like she fell outta that sad Gilmore Girls or something, lame character! ..... Well she is heh heh! I really don't think they should use any more heavy hitters before CLARK is SUPERMAN, yeah i know, we wont see 'em then, but come on, its getting stupid lol, im kinda glad we don't see Bats etc!!! He don't meet them till he's SUPERMAN! Maybe WARNERS can do a few movies after SMALLVILLE where we see TOM meet some of them then in tights! ; ) ... Oh yeah, im all for lesser known heroes though, hell yeah!!! Id love to see BOOSTER GOLD make a wrong turn time traveling and end up in SMALLVILLE in his full classic garb! It'll be well funny!!! Anyway Lessor know DC characters! No Heavy hitters!!! ; ) p.s. Yeah Ambush Bug would be friggin funny!!!! Cool!

MarkCassidy - 4/24/2009, 9:12 AM
Yeah Booster would be cool..or Blue Beetle. There are shit loads of options for other members, id just like to see another founding member in there. Hawkgirl/man would be hard to pull off, it could end up very Flash Gordony! My personal favorite is The Question..i think he could work in Smallville

yea i d like to the green lantern but doubtful with the movie like posted above but i wanna see a dark villain who hides in the shadows, put lexs crippled body in a giant suit {real suit not skin} throwback to lex being a genius with lots of money plus i wanna see an episode where clarks like be surrounded by kryptonite lava or something and the only way to get out is to fly...

thunder2k8 - 4/24/2009, 10:04 AM
Supermike, this show will never be as good as the comic. if you think about things that has been going doesn't make any sense. The only thing that make sense to me is clark outs himself for real this time. forget the secret ID and supersuit. No matter what Lois will know who he is.

LINE IT UP WITH THE DC MYTHOS?-YOU GOT ALOT OF WORK, ALOT OF THE SUPERMAN LORE WAS MANGLED ON SMALLVILLE, I SUGGEST TIME TRAVEL AND POSSIBLY CHANGING A FEW THINGS IN THE PAST, SETTING THINGS THE RIGHT WAY WITH THE SUPERMAN COMIC PURISTS..SMALLVILLE IS MAKING A TURN AROUND, IF THEY GET IT RIGHT, ZATTANA ALONE GOT ME EXCITED.
Herc509
Herc509 - 4/24/2009, 10:48 AM
they need to do something, this season has been kinda disappointing, the Doomsday story is great but all the other crap (Lana a kryptonite absorbing hero, Lex's death, the stilletto) has been garbage.
BubbaDude
BubbaDude - 4/24/2009, 12:25 PM
okay...I missed the Martian Manhunter episode. So going back, if my memory serves..the old schoolJLA was. Supes, Bats, WW, Flash, Green lantern, Aquaman, and MArtian MAnhunter. Batty and Wonder Woman is out. The rest have already been on the show, correct? Green Arrow has already been on. The other superpeople who were early additions of the team would be Hawkman, Atom, Red Tornado, Elastic Man, and others.

Personally I'd like to see Hawkman and the Atom. Since John Jones has been on, they are open to other aliens....so go with Hawkman!

"ultimately, everything we do in the finale is in order to line up with the DC mythology."

"[Next season] he has to overcome—he has to be Superman."

Those have to be the two most promising quotes from ANY producers of Smallville yet!!!! I'm so amped for the finale! I can't wait to get off work and watch last nights episode! The only thing I have reservations about is:

"Just out of professional curiosity, does that mean we'll see Tom Welling in some spandex tights next year?....The one person who doesn't want to see that unfortunately is Tom Welling, so that's a bigger conversation."

He needs to get his head out of his @ss! If he had been marketing himself as a Superman for this generation from the beginning he probably would have been on the big screen already.

How sick would that be?....A series to show Superman growing up, then when he actually makes the transition to Superman, the media makes the transition to film. An entire generation would literally GROW UP with Superman! His face should be on lunchboxes and cereal everywhere, it could have been a marketing goldmine...

His agent should be fired and he needs a serious attitude adjustment.

BUBBADUDE-

Yea he's been in a couple of episodes now. Maybe you've seen him and just didn't realize it was him. He's pretty much the only Black guy on the show, he was a Metropolis Detective for a while.

ok, i hope theres a big showdown between doomsday and clark. i dont give a dam about chloe, she just crys all the time and make stupid decisions. if there is going to be a big battle, do NOT, i repeat, do NOT have kryptonite. why am i metioning kryptonite in the first place. well because everytime something big is about to happen, theres people with kryptonite coming out of there ass. i mean the stilleto episode was stupid enough, but when they added kryptonite money, that was complete bullshit. where do they find this shit. i swear.

dont get me wrong i still like smallville, but its the same ol plot all the time.

KRYPTONITE= BAD, BULLSHIT
LastSon1027
LastSon1027 - 4/24/2009, 5:27 PM
Yeah I think doomsday is enough of a challenge without your random kryptonite rock laying around.
Jaxim

>next season's stories line up closely with the DC mythology

The only way I see this happening is if Jor-el/the fortress has the tech to alter the memory of everyone who has ever met Clark to remember him always wearing glasses. Then Clark can start wearing glasses and superman can wear the tights and cape without a mask.

You guys notice how Clark and Welling are alike. They both dont want to wear tights
LastSon1027
LastSon1027 - 4/24/2009, 8:29 PM
I think it's a bad move on Wellings part not to put on the suit cause at this point everyone already knows him as the Smallville guy so why not at least make a hundred million or so and be known a Superman.
