Over at Comic Book Resources, DC Editor Dan Didio discussed Wednesday Comics’ appearance in the pages of USA Today, and specifically addressed the fact that Superman’s iconic nature is one of the reasons he was chosen for the paper. “It’s the wonderful about Superman,” he says. ‘It is a worldwide brand. It’s something everybody recognizes. Even the most casual reader or someone who doesn’t know anything about comics will know something about Superman. And hopefully this brings them into our book and brings them into this format. And maybe it makes them appreciate what comics are all about a little bit more.” Wow, nothing like a little bit of pressure for the Man of Steel.
DC’s The Source announced that beginning in October writer James Robinson and artist Mark Bagley will be the creative team on the Justice League of America title. Enthuses Robinson, “It’s a thrill to be given the reigns of DC’s flagship team book and to know that my partner in crime (fighting) will be the esteemed Mark Bagley, whose dynamic storytelling skills I intend to make full use of. It’s further exciting/gratifying for me that I can dove-tail the events of Cry For Justice into the main book where post-Blackest Night will emerge a new team and a new exciting direction as they get caught up in the next wave of events building throughout the DCU.”
TV Guide reports that Brian Austin Green, recently of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, will be portraying John Corben, a.k.a. Metallo, in the ninth season of Smallville (g4tv.com came up with the accompanying image of the actor and the character).
