BIRDMAN Actress Andrea Riseborough In Talks To Play The Villainous 'Top Dollar' In THE CROW

If that character sounds familiar it's because he was the chief baddie in James O'Barr's original graphic novel, and was then played by Michael Wincott in the 1994 movie. It seems the role has been gender-swapped for the remake, as Mr. Dollar will be played by Andrea Riseborough...

According to Deadline, Relativity Studios is in negotiations with Andrea Riseborough to play the villain in Corin Hardy's remake of The Crow, which will star Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston as the doomed Eric Draven. Riseborough ( Birdman, Oblivion, Disconnect, Made in Dagenham, Never Let Me Go) would play a character named Top Dollar, who was originally written as a man and was played by Michael Wincott in the first adaptation back in 1994. Top Dollar runs a crime syndicate, and is indirectly responsible for the deaths or Draven and his fiancée Shelly (Jessica Brown Findlay).

The remake is being produced by Edward R. Pressman, Kevin Misher, Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and Jeff Waxman. James O’Barr is also on board as a consultant. The Crow will take flight in 2016.

Michael Wincott is brilliant, Period!! Loved him in the Count of Monte Cristo. That said I'm interested in seeing how this plays out.

I hope they don't mess this up. everything after the first Crow has been horrible. The first one isn't amazing but it's a cult classic.

T-Bird was the big bad in O'Barr's The Crow. Top Dollar was just a street dealer. That was was one of many changes made to The Crow when Alex Proyas helped adapt it.

Kind of off topic, but isn't it better when the "editors" more interact with the users versus half-assing it making snide comments? Personally, I lose a little respect every time I see an "editor" be less than professional. Which, unfortunately, is pretty regular. And Yes, I realize I can go elsewhere to seek CBM "entertainment".
