THE FLASH: WB Dismisses Report That Future Ezra Miller Projects Have Been Paused As "Exaggeration"

It was recently reported that WB had "hit pause" on all future Ezra Miller projects in the wake of the actor's arrest for disorderly conduct, but the studio is now claiming this was an "exaggeration."

A recent Rolling Stone piece claimed that Warner Bros. and DC executives held an emergency impromptu meeting to discuss The Flash star Ezra Miller's future following their arrest for disorderly conduct and harassment.

Apparently, a decision was made to "hit pause on any future projects involving Miller, including possible appearances in the DC Cinematic Universe," but a studio rep has now rebuked the report.

According to IGN's source, "no such emergency meeting took place," and the update on Miller's status with WB has been dismissed as "exaggeration." The wording does suggest that some action was taken, but we may not know for sure until the studio decides to release an official statement.

Miller was arrested after a drunken altercation with several patrons in a bar in Hawaii, and was then hit with a restraining order when they (allegedly) threatened and stole from a couple they'd been staying with in Hilo. This was just the latest in a series of troubling incidents involving the actor, who was also said to be very difficult to work with while shooting The Flash.

The Fastest Man Alive's first solo outing was recently pushed back from Nov. 4, 2022 to June 23, 2023, so WB has a bit of time to get its house in order. Whether Miller will ultimately be recast obviously remains to be seen, but the studio could be looking at a PR nightmare if they attempt to brush this under the rug.

@RageDriver2401 - if it gets worst we may get another HBO Max exclusive. I guess Flash and Green Lantern brands are just DOA at this point.

At least they’re not enabling him

@TheWalkingCuban - They kind of are if they aren't punishing him for doing these things. I get it they can't literally tell him what to do with his private life, but if he can't do press and this movie flops then WB is just throwing away millions of dollars at this point.

They have to RDJ him like on Iron Man 1's set where they put time and financial restraints on his contract until the movie gets released. If Ezra actually kills someone then this film and the DC brand is going to be damaged forever.

@mastakilla39 - I really suck at sarcasm, first people thought I wanted to watch Morbius, now they think I approve of WB’s handling of Ezra Miller 😹😹😹

They’re doing right by him, confound it all!!!

Well it’s not like he did anything as INSANE or DANGEROUS as weakly slapping a dude

@Twenty23Three - Yeah, that Will Smith thing is really getting ridiculous. Like, yeah, it wasn't okay. I'm glad we talked about it. But can we stop at some point? They both apologized to each other. Yet society still wages wars over who was in the right and tries to dish out punishments. What is happening?

@Twenty23Three - his behavior has been worst. He went on social media telling people to arm themselves and to go kill the KKK...imagine if some stupid idiots actually did it. We will get a whole stupid mess like Trump's storm the white house incident.

Then he has had several several disorderly conducts charged against him by bullying normal citizens and trying to pick fights in a drunk state at bars. Then when he got bailed out by his friends, he stormed into their bedroom and robbed them for their money, credit cards, passports, etc. and threatened to kill them if they report it. Stating that because he's rich and famous he can easily get weapons, kill them, and get away with it.

Way worst then a slap in the face....

Between Amber Heard and Ezra Miller, WB is racking up quite the cast. The next team-up film should be called “The Abusers”

It's possible they play it both ways to see what the reaction is. But either way, I don't really care one way or the other about Ezra Miller. I appreciate his nerd-cred, but that's kinda it.

If it's not going to affect the box office, they have no reason to let him go. Unless he's as difficult on set as he is in real life.
mastakilla39
mastakilla39 - 4/8/2022, 7:36 AM
@Fares - I think it will. That's 1 of the reasons WB stopped him from doing press on the upcoming Fantastic beast film despite early reactions stating that he's in a lot. Aquaman 2 and Flash were delayed to next year because Ezra's Flash is supposedly setting up major plot points in both films that will affect future DCEU films. WB is just hoping people will forget by next year and that Ezra doesn't mess up again..........WB's strategy is that if we don't talk about it then it never happened. But apparently it's still being talked about alot despite happening the same week as Will Smith's slap of fame.

I'm sure Flash is the center piece of their stories, or at least essential to rebooting the dceu. So I can see why they aren't getting rid of him, same with Amber Heard (even though she should be blasted off this planet), although they could recast her like they did Katie Holmes, and like they should have done for T'Challa but I digress

Exaggeration? WB and Miller are despicable.

What does he have to do to get fired? devour babies?

@Repian - don't give him ideas. Even though slapping babies might fit his track record better
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/8/2022, 6:42 AM
As much as I want the movie to be a full reboot, I don't see it happening. Aside from Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Shazm and The Suicide Squad (and hopefully Blue Beetle and Batgirl), I just don't care for the current DC universe and anyone in it.
Drace24
Drace24 - 4/8/2022, 6:47 AM
@bkmeijer1 - I just want The Batman to be the first in a brand new shared universe. Should really be the obvious choice at this point.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 4/8/2022, 7:05 AM
@Drace24 - same here. I guess some would argue that more fantastical elements don't fit that world, but I'd argue we once said the same about Iron Man too
Drace24
Drace24 - 4/8/2022, 7:18 AM
@bkmeijer1 - And the Arrowverse. Remember when that first blew up and the showrunners were super into their "no superpowers" policy? Look how that turned out.
Deadinside
Deadinside - 4/8/2022, 8:14 AM
@bkmeijer1 - It could, very easily, be fitted with fantastical elements. It's only his second year as Batman. Why couldn't this be Clark's first year in Metropolis, not yet fully Superman?
There could be a shot of Bruce noticing a sudden bluish streak in the sky off in the distance piquing his interest.
I don't know, I'm just shooting at stars over here!

In terms of casting choices DC has nothing on Marvel. It's like they go out of their way to make their lives difficult.
